If Grier were to leave, he'd need to go to a DII school to play immediately. He doesn't strike me as the type of kid who came here for an education. So if he does leave, he needs to go DII and put up huge numbers and then go pro. This isn't drugs so he won't have to worry about the character issues in the draft. He'll likely be drafted in the first 3 rounds if he does this.

If he stays, he'll likely play in the first or second game back. As soon as Treon struggles he'll get a shot to save the day. I'm not sure if Del Rio is any good, but he could throw a wrench into the equation.

The big issue is that this will prevent Treon from moving to slot receiver.

I said in the beginning that it would be the full year, the ncaa is always on a power trip and they wouldn't want to set precedence...

Treon is serviceable, he has shown progress and after we pull the upset in Atlanta all you bandwagon qb lovers can jump aboard the Mac train being run by conductor Treon.

No surprise the NCAA didn't budge on this. That would require them to admit their rules are out of date and in some cases wrong. They will never admit they are at fault. He will still have 2.5 years of eligibility left once he's done sitting. No reason to cut bait unless we suddenly get 2 4-5 star kids in this class to add competition and depth.

I'm in the camp that thought it would get reduced. We knew there was a chance of this happening. I believe del Rio will be the starter next year and probably be a better fit in this offense that should have a much improved offensive line. This may also help our chances with franks. It sucks balls but I still think we can be pretty good. We also don't know who will be available on the graduate transfer market. I'm not giving up hope yet for us to have decent qb play next year.

Law, you may have some insight into this. Any grounds that the Griers could sue the NCAA on? They have almost a full year to get something done.

Best for Grier to move on and for UF to move on as well in recruiting a QB that has the common sense not to blatantly try to shirk the rules and cheat, then feign ignorance as a defense.

I respectfully disagree.

I think Mac may keep him around, and make him EARN back his starting position, as an OBJECT lesson to every other player on the team.

Think about it.
