I am a Gator and love the Gator script on our helmets. However I did spend 24 years in the Air Force and can say the AFA has done a great thing with these.

I spent a few years in school at the AFA. Got to see quite a few games, it was a good atmosphere. 5th grade at Douglas Valley Elementary on the grounds of the Academy. While technically I didn't attend the AFA I did go to school there.

And from your avatar it appears you got one of those rad AFA helmets. Is it a replica of Fat Boy?

That's pretty awesome! Thank you for your service sir. While I have not served myself, I am an 18 year Air Force brat. I too am a fan of the Air Force Academy and like to see them win.

Apropos that they use the traditional shark mouth of the A-10 while simultaneously trying as hard as they can to cut that awesome plane out of the service.

Yep. Everything I've heard about the A-10 is that it just won't quit. It's low tech, but is so incredibly reliable. I think it was the Desert Storm pilots interviewed who mentioned the A-10 stayed in the air way more than the Apache helicopters. They said the desert sand screwed with the modern aircraft way more than the A-10.

Years ago, on one of the boards, there was a poster with an aviator helmet painted like a Gators helmet. I believe it was the real deal. Pretty sweet.
