My guess is the reason why they stopped playing Hurd is because he was getting outplayed by a freshman WR this year. But this isn't so much about Hurd leaving as it is that the program is starting to fall apart. Players and fans are frustrated and they are starting to lose faith in Butch. The only reason why they had a decent start of the season is because Jones had hired some good assistants that made him look better, and Dobbs inexplicably had the best game of his life against us. I still don't understand how we lost to these losers.

I think it was the Bama transfer Kamara who's been eating his lunch. That and SoFla salesman analogy is spot on. He oversold Hurd and now it has bit him. It's how he's recruited pretty well. Problem is he can't coach a lick, hence massive swings in fortune both this year and last year. That is a mark of poor coaching.

The whole thing has been a facade. He is a really good salesman, nothing more. In my entire life, I've never seen any coach do as many commercials, photo-ops, trendy gifs, etc. as Jones has. At some point, you've promised and promised and promised, and people actually start to expect things to be as you suggested they would. When it doesn't happen, they realize they've been had, it goes south quickly.

I mean, look at this clown. Guy has Monavie written all over him.

This is a great article... I have seen several UT games this year and to me it appeared this guy Hurd was not really into playing quite so hard this year... Maybe trying to protect his future. That was also the rumor that started floating around the UGA game that his family was sick of him taking so many "unnecessary" hits... JFC, it's football. This mentality of quitting during a season Is horrible whether it be Barnett at Bama, Hurd, or any player...
