If they can convince Slaton to play OL he will become a starter at guard at some point this season.

If Slaton plays on the OL and Heggie shows that he's capable of being the full time starting center, I can see both Riles and McCoy getting a look at DT.

I think riles starts at RG with the other 4 the OP stated. From what I've heard, heggie and stone are basically there as practice bodies, but as RsFr next year who knows, they may make strides before they leave here
If you think Riles starts at OG, you're either a troll or a moron.

I think it'll take a lot to move McCoy to DT. He played pretty well last year. Brought some fire to the OL.

I don't disagree with that, but you've got to get your best players on the field, and if Heggie can make some strides it changes a lot with what the staff can do with the OL and DTs. Of the offensive linemen, I think McCoy would make the best DT due to his physicality and the tremendous pad level that he uses (he has a natural low base).

I understand, and I understand that it's a big jump. It's going to be hard to take someone off the field who's had success for someone with no experience. Especially when the other guys have already gelled with him.

I do hope Heggie and others see the field and get experience.

I like McCoy at center. With Ivey and Taylor at the tackles, these 3 will give us the best center/bookends combo we've had in awhile. If Ivey's pass-blocking gets coached up, we may actually have a serious O-line this fall.

Other than Riles, Buchanan and Sandifer are most likely DL moves. Both played DT in HS and both are getting very little playing time on the OL.

I'm sure I read that Harkless graded out at 78% in the SEC Championship game playing LG for Ivey who moved to LT, the rest of the starters were below 50%. I would hope he could at least beat out Fred Johnson.

Honestly, depending on how this DT class goes, I see us just continuing to play DEs like CeCe at DT until the baby Gators develop. CeCe isn't good at DT and it's a shame that we take elite DEs out of the game by playing them out of position, but I doubt any of those OL other than Riles move.

Everybody seems to want to move McCoy to DT bc Tony played there, but I can't think of the last time I saw a freshman player center like he did. It would be insane to move him, and I'm sure it has never crossed our coaches' minds.

McCoy was the bright spot of this year's OL. I would not even speculate on what crosses our coaches' minds.

Hate to see CeCe's talent get wasted. He's from my small town and we don't send many players to big D1 programs. Really wanted to see him shine and get to the next level.

He's an NFL player regardless of how the coaching staff uses or wastes his talent. NFL scouts will see his ability and project him appropriately.

He is a really good SDE, maybe as good as Bullard, a little better as a pass rusher but maybe not quite as good vs run so far. However, the fact that he is the only DE that ever ventures near the weightroom apparently means he is getting punished for our recruiters' failures to land DTs.

He was one of two, Taylor was All-SEC Freshman. But agree. Moving him to DL would be a bad move, at this point. I do hope Heggie is legit though. We went through 3 Center's last year, so we need both to stay on O.

The complaint I have is that these big guys, like Buchanan, were just standing on the sideline when our DT's were injured and other teams were running through us. We should have these guys cross-trained to be ready to play a few D snaps if needed. Like I said earlier, Sandifer and Buchanan are the most likely candidates....and honestly, if they're not playing on O why not??
