I think it was this Franz Beard guy that was saying he had heard the NCAA was going to “drop the hammer” on Fsu when they were going through they’re NCAA investigation about 10 years ago, and we saw the slap on the wrist that they got. But even a broke clock is right twice a day, just wish a more credible person was touting these rumors.

Kelly is younger than Saban was when he was hired at bama. How's that working out?

Yeah, how have those comparisons to Saban worked out for Florida over the past seven years?

Of the 2 Scout guys (Franz and Bob) Bob has been saying Chip Kelly was top 3 for a while now and that the show cause was in no way hindering him with Stricklin. Bob also said that Kelly moved to the top a couple of days ago while Franz kept insisting Kelly wasn't top 3 until yesterday when he switched his prediction. But of course there will be plenty harping on the accuracy of Bob too so there is that. But at least those 2 try to give information on what they are hearing even if what they are hearing is not correct...the other writers sit on everything until it is announced

There's 3-4 sources. Not just Franz.

Fail Philly, fail San Fran, out one year. On this guy, all forgiveness on inability to adjust, even to save his job?? And not using his personel correctly?? By those he seems another costly mistake, at greater cost$ everyet.?
Kelly is literally at the top of everyone with an opening's list.

Yes, we were excited and had our heart set on the prospect of getting a young energetic Scott Frost (and this is just as a guess Rog, but I'm guessing you might have a little more tendency to perseverate in that genius mind of yours, so not as easy to change gears quickly) but make no mistake, there is no larger home run hire than Chip Kelley. Unlike Mac, this guy literally is an offensive genius. His record as a HC at Oregon was 46-7.

No one is going to see it as, "well they couldn't get Frost so had to settle for Kelly". This would be the hire of the year by a long shot of all the openings, and being "disappointed" in getting Kelly is the kind of thing that makes folks think our fan base is completely unreasonable.

If this is true... would they necessarily have to wait till the end of the season to announce? Have to believe this would create some real shock waves in recruiting.
On another point... at 53 he has a lot of good years left. Just don't want to become a temporary launching pad till another NFL team comes looking.

You announce now and get going on naming staff and recruiting immediately. Any sort of wait would make zero sense.

Speaking of $en$e, my guess is $6 mil to land Kelly.

That is the risk of hiring Kelly. If a year later, an NFL team came calling he'd be gone in an instant. He's been very voal about his preference of NFL over college. That said, I highly doubt an nfl team hires him any time in the near future.

Maybe Stricklin is his own man. I do know this, not in a million years would Foley have approached Kelly. He'd have struck and high and mighty principled pose over the idea. We're better than that, who's available in the Mountain West?

THIS! All day long. He always thinks he is the smartest person in the room. Typical of politicians, and a$$holes who think their $#!+ doesn't stink

46-7 very convincing point, lagator. Frost would have to go 27-0 to match that. Yet must consider Kelly's interests:
1st choice = return to NFL?
2nd choice = west coast college?
maybe 3rd choice = maybe UF, SEC maybe.??

I'd take Chris Farley over macelstain any day of the week. We might not win, but it'd be fun as hell, and Farley can actually have a conversation with recruits, the media, alumni, etc. Mac couldn't do that.

A judge in Gainesville says that Frost is a done deal. This is ‘usually’ a good source.
Who knows????

@GatorJvmes: Chip Kelly to UF Vegas odds began improving yesterday. Once things began to leak, they pulled the Florida Coach prop bet.

It would not surprise me if all of this Chip Kelly talk is just smoke. Though I would not mind CK at all. The reason for them taking down the betting odds might be just because a done deal has been leaked and that could be Frost.
