When someone refutes a rumor, is it not incumbent on them to back it up with something more than another rumor?

You know, he doesn't say they don't intend to hire Kelly, only that the nuts and bolts have not been worked out with "anyone". Anyone could mean several or it could mean Kelly alone.

Well Chip Kelly still has three years remaining on his contract with the 49ers, at 6 million dollars person season. So depending on how his contract was written, the 49ers might still have to pay the difference between his new job and what they owe him. So basically he would still be a 6 million dollar per year coach, with UF paying 4.5 million, and the 49ers paying the other 1.5 million. If you read the first two paragraphs of the article linked below, you will see it talks about a "contract offset," whereby the Eagles still owed him money (but less because he was hired by the 49ers). From what I understand, these types of offsets are quite common in the NFL, so it wouldn't surprise me if Kelly's contract with the 49ers had one as well. Granted that would only cover him for two seasons, but the difference in pay could be made up with other incentives.

If he is hiring and wants a face to face first he might show his being serious by being on the plane that is bringing Kelly to UF. He does not have to be on the plane.

The UAA's aircraft are blocked from websites like Flightaware, so it's very possible that Stricklin has already had a face to face with Kelly since he fired Mac. This could be a flight to pick up Kelly after the deal is essentially sealed.

I'm new here so be easy, at least on this one response.....
My girlfriend is a UT grad and raised her family up there. We haven't missed a game in 11 yrs. either there or here.

It's not a complete shyte hole. West Knoxville is a great area and I actually like that part of Tennessee area generally. but get too far out of town and it's trailers and meth.

They just committed over 300 mil to renovate that erector set stadium.

To me it's a top 10-15 job from the football aspect. Cambell or Norvell could increase their value there if they can recruit at least as well as sgt carter.
They are still hard for Chucky.

Yes I noted that fact as I understood it in another post. I was just answering the question as to why might want to be on that flight, an this airplane at least on the ground was not blocked.

Now, XXX is the same person who said it was NOT Kelly or Mullen, and XXX confirmed it was NOT Kelly just a couple of days ago. Whether or not they were deliberate lies or plans simply changed I do not know.
