1. Chip has spoken to 2 coordinators about going to UCLA. That is a fact.

2. Mike Belotti said he had to practically drag Chip from the OC job at New Hampshire to Oregon. Comfort is the most important thing to him. If not for Belotti's constant prodding, he'd never have left New Hampshire for the OC job at Oregon.

Those are facts.

Now Frangie's thoughts. He'd be shocked if he took the UF job. The contract is not signed. Chip knows the LA area. He knows the recruiting there. He knows the coaches. It is comfortable.

I wouldn't promote Shannon. I'd leave him as interim. Maybe you could go high dollar on an OC with the assumption that if it works out he could be promoted.

But if Chip did revoke before our admin finished executing, and I have no reason to believe that, and if we couldn't land Frost, I agree just leave an interim and wait to take a swing at an elite or potentially elite coach next year.

Im not clear on whether Norvell might be on the "we think he will be elite" coaches. None of the rest are.
It would make no sense to hire another Just a Dude w a Pulse coach (all the others listed so far) and have to fire him in 2.5-3 years.

If Shannon is our coach next year, I'm out.

Well, if he just wants to be comfortable, then we don't want him. We just fired a coach who was a social retard, and was looking for a place to be comfortable. As losses mounted up, and recruits disappeared, Mac thought everything was "purdy kewl" and kept cashing multimillion dollar checks because he was comfortable. We need someone who has fire in his belly, ice in his veins, and wants to make history. I thought Chip Kelly might be that guy. Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. We will know when his decision is made public.
