Not correct. Missy State won their game a few days ago.
Auburn didn’t look ambushed. They looked out-prepared, out-coached, likely the classic mistake of thinking you can just do what you do and win.
Amazing. Congrats I guess to ucf. That's it. UCF caps an undefeated season.
Like undefeated 2006 Boise State belonged in the title game? After all, they upset mighty Oklahoma in a bowl game.
The mistake is assuming they prepared for that game like they would a regular season game. I doubt it. I bet he spent his extra practice time prepping for next season. Plus, Auburn has 3-4 nfl guys on that roster. Do you really think they cared about that game? Hell no!

Malzahn apparently spent that extra practice time meeting with his accountants. The mistake is assuming they prepared for that game like they would a regular season game. I doubt it. While I understand not putting them in the playoff, I doubt there were 11 better teams than UCF in the land. This whole "UCF should have been in the Playoffs over Alabama" is sweet, but just nonsense IMO. UCF beat a single team in the top 25 (Memphis - #20), and their Strength of Schedule was #67. It's unfortunate that they don't play in a stronger conference, but there is just no way you reward an undefeated team with the 67th hardest schedule.
There is a reason they were ranked #12 and not #5, and it wasn't because "the committee had it out for them". That's just ridiculous.

There should be an 8 team playoff system. Let it be decided on the field, not in a boardroom. Their undefeated season give them the right to at least compete on the field. This whole "UCF should have been in the Playoffs over Alabama" is sweet, but just nonsense IMO. So will UCF claim a Bama style championship? Undefeated and beat the teams that could possibly be in the national championship?
Years ago in the "big Dance" the losers in the final four had to play another game against each other. THIS was what Auburn had to play. This was the loser bowl for them. On the other hand UCF had everything to prove with a win. "See, we told you we were a great team." Auburn played some great teams. UCF played a very soft schedule in comparison. But this game proves that my proposal for a better playoff. Have the regular "historic" bowl games. THEN take the best four after that and playoff. Then a team like Aub, has an incentive beyond having to win a game they dont want to play.Or like BYU getting a NC in 1984 after going undefeated and “beating Michigan” - a 6-5 Michigan team. That was the biggest joke of a championship.
It’s one thing for a team like Boise State or UCF to win a game against a quality opponent. But they don’t get tested by the weekly grind of an SEC or other P5 schedule. Most of their schedule is vs. teams we get criticized for scheduling.
Still, a great year for them.
