14th would be GREAT after this horrible start. I was hoping 12th or better, w/ at least 12 blue-chip players. We will probably get 10 to 12 blue-chip players and finish just inside the top 20 - which is unacceptable at a school like ours. But, it is what it is at this point. It's not for a lack of trying, so hopefully the work will pay off in 2020. It's disappointing, but the blue-chip kids we were in on are starting to commit elsewhere, leaving our blue-chip list very thin. We're going to need a couple of flips and/or unexpected commits to even get to 10-12 blue-chip players. For me, if we finish higher than 15th and have more than 12 blue-chip kids it's going to be a big win for us (and for Mullen - after falling so far behind). The early signing period has changed things bigly and this staff needs to adjust.
Agree, top 15 would be great after this start. If we can pull in 4 dlinemen that are 300lbs or look capable of growing into that. Atleast 2 4 star corners that will be sec caliber. Start upgrading the linebacker talent . Keep building depth on the oline. We already have a qb that fits this system. Those are just some examples of our needs. If we can recruit a balanced class and fill our needs , in 2 or 3 years we can start to look like a 10 win team and then we'll start really competing for the elite guys again.
The way i see it, Mullen doesn't have the clout of a big time coach and isn't a great recruiter. It is what it is. Not to mention facilities and our recent history, were not the destination we used to be. If we can just start claw our way back a little at a time. So rankings are not what I'm focused on. Its how we start to fill out our roster.

Top 14 would be below average, but better than an absolute failure.

It also means we wont have the hoses to compete for three more years, which may cause real problems for his career longevity if he doesnt have a good deal of luck.

The stud horses have to come here, then mature to juniors probably before we will ever compete again.

Imo, were 5 or 6 years away from that at best

at any point in time we are 3 years away. If we started this year with top 5 classes, we would be competitive in 3 years. Winning championships?probably not, but we'd be competitive. With Mullins, we'd need 5 yrs so our projects can develop as RSSR's. But as with Meyer, we need talent and that's not starting this year.

This isn’t the bottom by a long shot...a couple years of losing seasons by the end of October we’ll know exactly where the bottom is I think the litmus test is the UGA game...of course if we lose to UK or UT I think we’re not even close to getting out

I hope we get this kid, 4-star DE, Lloyd Summerall - he'll be at FNL:

This kid is coming to FNL....I couldn't find much info on him (he's not on rivals or 247), I'm guessing he's a 2-star and likely a return specialist as he's listed at 5'8 165lbs:

From New Smyrna Beach, Einaj Carter on Hudl

We go 10-2 this year. No excuse for not winning. We lose to Georgia but will be competitive and one of LSU or MSU. We beat FSU. Hell if you take away Franks' 3 picks for scores we were competitive with them. That's with all the suspensions, coach getting fired.

Has it occurred to anyone that it might take as long to return to the top as it took to drop to the bottom? (At least I hope that this is the bottom.)

With Mullen this is probably true, if he can makes us a top 10 program again, it will take him awhile to do it. But for an elite coach it wouldn’t take that long, there’s been plenty of examples of this in the past at several programs including ours.

Franks accounted for 4 of their TD’s last year. 2 directly and 2 where their drives started in our red zone I believe. 2011,2014 and last year were very winnable games for us against the Holes, but the turnovers killed us. Of course have a competent QB in those games would’ve eliminated a lot of those turnovers too.

There was another near pick 6.

We’re never gonna win important games with Mullen’s system and the wrong personnel we’re 2-3 years away from being competitive in the East again and that’s if our lackluster performances didn’t force recruits to commit elsewhere because of lack of faith...anyone putting their faith in Franks used it all up at the UT game last year

It's not a normal bump class because of the early signing class. 2020? Mullen has to crush it. No excuses. No rationalizations. None.

I am not making excuses for him this year. I just think people are jumping on him way too early.
I’m not jumping on him, but I hope he realizes he’s got the shelf life of a fresh baked pie if he can’t recruit at the level of his rivals. Right now, he’s getting his ass handed to him by his successor at Missy State, the new clown, the new Vole and even Chump. Not to mention Saban and Kirby.
His tenure at his “dream job” will be short lived if he doesn’t get that fixed...PRONTO.

I still believe he should have brought Joe Burrow as the 4th QB and RS Jones. Now I would really like to be surprised by the development of the QBs, but...
My expectations of him are 10-2. Hell I can see 11-1 with our sole loss coming at the hands of Georgia. I also expect us to look competent like we belong on the same field as everybody else. Don't disappoint me Dan.
