Couldn't agree more. Anyone who disagrees needs to go watch summer/fall practices from Pop Warner all the way through NFL. There will be scraps nearly every other play in scrimmages as guys are fighting for positions and respect from older teammates.

But just to be clear to everyone in this thread I'm only half joking about the situation although I would love to have Durkin back on our staff. I doubt he told the players involved to beat the punter.

Here's the difference...this wasn't a regular practice. This was retaliation. Huge difference between what happened and what happens at normal ornery practices.

Not really, just don't post a whole lot because I try to refrain from involving myself in the pointless back and forth that this board has become. Your grade school comment about pounding another mans wife's vajayjay was complete bullsh*t.

Jealous it wasn't you?

Disagree. Hire him immediately.

Very solid defensive mind, great recruiter, and would have nothing to do with setting the tone of practice, so zero risk there. Add that to the fact that he's a total pariah and you're looking at the face of a DC we could have for years to come if/when Grantham leaves. Bring him on in some capacity and let him work his way up. I see no harm and tremendous upside.

Things is different nowadays. School Presidents are scared of losing their high-paying gigs when the social justice groups start raising hell about the “barbaric” football conditions that have existed among men since the beginning of time. That these groups of little SJW girls and boys have any clout at universities is utterly flabbergasting.

GTFO, wrong is wrong, and it should be exposed, You would fit in with the Paternos and Sanduskys with that kind of attitude. (don't deflect to compare what happened at one place to the other, wrong is wrong)

One thing is a fight between players in the heat of the moment during practice, another thing is a deliberate beating, also, the guy getting his hands/arms held back.. punks couldn't go one on one with a backup punter?? And if any of the coaches on the staff knew it was going to happen, even worse, yea yea, snitches get stiches.. the kid got stiches
Do you think it's possible you took me a bit too seriously?

Sober up.

Just bring him in as an “analyst.”

Did Durkin ask these players to do this? I guess I missed that part.

I laughed. This case does have quite a bit in common with that movie, although unlike the film I don't think for a moment Durkin told any players to do anything.

A snowflake punter opened his mouth and destroyed some careers. Sometimes there are some consequences to that.

Careers that deserved to be destroyed.

I assumed they reinstated him with the intent to officially fire him for legal or financial reasons, but guess not.

They waited till his first and only practice back? Either it's a mysterious coincidence or he's fomenting that type of culture. Both are unacceptable. He was fired and I doubt he comes anywhere near UF.
