I was a Robert E. Lee grad in 1961...

i graduated in 1956....Was Eula Durrence still there in '61 (dwarf English Teacher) ? She failed more students than all the other teachers combined. She literally had controlled breathing in her classroom. 'Course that was back in the day when you showed respect for teachers and if you got in trouble at school, you got in worse trouble at home.

I heard rumor than she did, but I never saw her do it. She loved literature & I remember reading "Silus Marner" and "Lady of the Lake".
I made A's 'cause I was a rabid reader an told her I had read "Quo Vadis" in the 8th grade. Darn if she didn't give me a test on it to make sure I wasn't lying!!!
