Gator Baseball Baseball: Gators in SEC Tourney

Kentucky's SOS, RPI and out of conference schedule last year was not comparable to ours this year. We went 5-1 vs. FSU & Miami, both ACC teams making the tournament, with Miami hosting a regional. However, we have no basis to complain if we do get left out.

The Gators squeeze in if there are no major tourney shockers, such South Carolina winning the SEC autobid.

I think they most likely make a regional. They were predicted as the 5th last team in... I don't think they did anything to make their case worse.

Here's how we match up with 2018 Kentucky:

2018 KY; 34-22, 13-18, RPI 30, SOS 21, NC SOS 133, Quad 1 record: 16-16
2019 UF: 33-24, 13-18, RPI 28, SOS 3, NC SOS 38, Quad 1 record: 16-20

So I think we're pretty similar. We played a tougher schedule, but Kentucky was .500 vs the top-50 and had a better road record so the RPI is basically the same

What might really help us is how soft the bubble is this year though. I think we get in, as long as there aren't many bid-stealers. Dont really see how they could justify taking FSU and leave us out

Good factual explanation. Thanks. Same rationale about FSU goes for Missouri. They're on the same bubble as we are and lost to Ole Miss today 2-1. No way they get in over UF. So there are 9 teams assured of an NCAA berth - Georgia, Vandy Tennessee, Miss. St., Ole Miss, Arkansas, LSU & Texas A&M. Auburn is probably in as the 10th SEC team. Their record is 32-23, RPI #19, SOS #2. They are 14-19 against RPI Top 50 teams (not counting their game against Tennessee today). We didn't play them, but their resume is a little better than ours. So IF the committee puts in an 11th SEC team, it should be us over Missouri. Right now our RPI is 25, Missouri is 26. But our SOS is #4, theirs is #35. we're 16-19 vs. RPI Top 50, Missouri is 10-16-1. Plus we swept them at their place. Additionally, our non-conference RPI is #25, theirs is #41; our non-conference SOS is #25, theirs is #205. So the key to me is no or very few upsets in conference tournaments and we're in, I think.

I love Gator baseball as much as anyone, but please excuse me if I'm not excited over detailed discussions over the last place.

I think it would be a relevant point whether or not missing the tourney would actually benefit this team by purging any entitlement mentality that may exist by being the first Gator squad to miss the tourney in years.

Something is wrong with this team and youth ain't it. Way too many upperclassmen on that pitching roster that were MIA this season. I'd love to know exactly why.

And whatever happened to Garrett Milchiin? He was hurt last year, but was supposed to be a solid, 2-way contributor this year. He was on the roster earlier this year, but not lately. Does anyone know?
