Assuming we whiff on Turkey neck (Kelly) what’s the deal with talk of Frost having no interest?

Yeah, no matter what happens, if the contract isn’t signed and it’s taken this long, then how does it look good for UF at this point? It could still happen, but we put a lot of emphasis on one guy.

We did as we should have. It's Chip Kelly. You have to make a big pitch. We're still in it but you do have to wonder who wants who more. So Stricklin's put a timetable out there. We'll wait a few days, continue to work back channels and most likely go after Frost with abandon if this falls through.

It's what happens if Frost falls through the worries me. The dropoff to the second tier is noticeable.

How about Bear Bryant?

You know what? He still would have been better than the last two guys.

I heard Frost is getting a raise to $5M from UCF and they may join Big 12 next season.

A few reasons. He keeps saying that he wants to stay at UCF, he was our second choice and perhaps feels a bit slighted, Nebraska is home and he is their first choice and the bloom is off the Florida brand rose.

Yeah, I can't see UCF throwing 5M at Frost. I'm not even sure we'd throw that kind of money at him, though it may turn out necessary due to competition.

So Friday night we just need Charlie Strong to shatter his delusions of building UCF into a powerhouse.

just another quick hitter....UCF/USF is on ABC @ 3:30pm and the game has been sold out for 3 weeks. Charlie Strong -vs- Scott Frost and word on campus (my son goes to UCF) is that representatives from the Big 12 in attendance. The thoughts that the Big 12 could rethink conference expansion seeing two schools in the heart of Florida with a natural rivalry with two high profile coaches playing in front of a packed stadium on a beautiful Florida day on ABC would certainly not hurt their image. Secondly, it was mentioned on the radio down here this morning that UF is the least of UCF's worries when it comes to keeping Scott Frost. OK State, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and UCLA have "supposedly" contacted Scott Frost's agent to gauge interest.

We may not get CK or Frost and the drop off to the others is quite steep and would most likely put us right back here in 3 years in even more desperate shape. It is quite possible the SS made a great move acting on JM early but did not follow up with enough energy to lock in one of the premiere coaches before the other P5 schools came calling. If this is the case, SS will have shown he is more interest in diversion, tweeting, and exhibiting that narcissistic "look, I am in control" character that doomed us with his predecessor. I hope to God I am wrong but SS may have overplayed his "we are Florida" hand and left us to pick for scraps.
A lot of good points, but a couple of disagreements. When you negotiate and even change construction plans and then drag the president to New Hampshire, you have done all you can to hire ck. It is then up to him. You forced UCLA to fire their coach before they were ready. Congratulate SS on having gone after the hard one and move on
. Also, even if we don't hire Kelly or Frost, we can greatly improve our FB product. A number of solid coaches could make us competitive again.

Agreed. The divide between Chip and Frost to the remaining opportunities is huge IMO.

There’s a lot of desperate teams out there and not a lot of promising coaches.

Why go cheap when an additional 1-3 million investment into a good coach will return that money tenfold.

You gotta think Stricklin is feeling the pressure of time after a week or two burned on Kelly. We really need to get this thing rolling, and for a lot of reasons.

with all his recruiting issues imagine how long that would take to get past the SEC office.
