It wasn't a canned email. I looked up your address, put it in a new email, and sent it only to you.

Word for word EXACTLY what was sent last time I was offline for a week. What a coincidence.

You can read that with a tone of dislike, but it's honestly not there at all. I accept this site being what it is - for those core members, run by Ox as he sees fit. I'm totally chill with all of this.

I'm generally a very supportive and giving person, always willing to help. If you ever want an honest discussion on growing membership, I'd be more than happy to discuss ideas. However, so long as the intent is to cater to a core group, under the whims of the Admin and owner, you don't really need feedback or discussion from the likes of me. I'll go back to lurking.
As for your other stuff, you're some right and some wrong. You don't seem to realize that if drive off the core group, there is no longer a Gatorchatter. It goes under. Then no one gets anything. Would that be better to you?

While I always want new members, visitors continue to rise, up 25% this year from last year and 50% from 2016. More people are coming to Gatorchatter every day, even if it's just to lurk. And you have to ask yourself, why is that? They obviously like what they see. You're implying I should demand everyone tone it down so new members won't get scared off, but that would do nothing drive away both the core members and the lurkers - in other words, it would be a death blow for the Chatter.

You're right in that it's my board and my rules. You're wrong in that I don't listen to what people think.

You've ALWAYS taken me too seriously. Always. When I said "denied" to 78, you thought "what a prick!", when in fact I was just being playful to a member I really respect, and he knows that and enjoys the banter. When I said women were a "tiny minority" on Gatorchatter (and all sports boards), that was the truth. I'm not going to apologize for speaking the truth.

Your suggestions about the Recruiting Forum and the Home Page are noted and appreciated. Obviously I haven't updated the home page in a while because it's a bit of a pain and very few people actually visit that page.

On a last note since you've leveled a whole bunch of crap, you said this:
What's the point? Was anything raised last year that got any level of attention? No.
Tell me specifically what was raised last year that didn't get any attention.

Well, you can certainly be assured I won't be emailing you again for any reason.

Regarding Alex's posts about the long threads, I do have a good idea to make longer threads easier to navigate. An unrelated forum I used to frequent had a simliar style with long threads on one topic as opposed to multiple shorter threads. The way they made it easier to find new news on those topics was to have subheaders under the thread titles that would say, "Update: Page 10!" with a link to the post that had the update.

So for instance, in the recruiting thread, if an article with important information is posted on Page 72, you could have the direct link to that post under the thread title instead of making people have to dig through the thread to find it. Not sure if this software supports that kind of feature, but I think that would help a lot with mega-threads. Just my two cents. :captain:

I find all this hilarious. You have to seek out this page and actually read the damn posts. If you're offended then why the hell does someone keep coming back and keep reading? I'm sure we will all cry a river every time someone decides to never come back.

As for the money, I'm fine with Ox making a few bucks off this site. Hell, it makes me happier knowing that I had a choice to give Ox money versus the government taking my money without a choice and giving it to some crack head sitting on their couch taking government handouts. Plus I get Ox Bucks...they're like bit coin aren't they???

Does Ox start this threat whenever his Prozac runs low?

If you send a request out to your remaining loyal customers to asses the product they have continued to consume, while implicitly omitting those who were upset (and thus gone), then you get a better reaffirmation than Stuart Smalley. I jest, because the site is great. Thus the reason, like others have mentioned, I voluntarily paid the lifetime membership and would have paid more.

I rarely post, and not due to fear of Law or other posters, nor is it due to T-Rex's lack of self reflection in criticizing other posters for personal attacks. That is actually one of the more amusing aspects of this board, when a member (most likely Rex) calls another poster any number of awful things, then writes "We shouldn't get personal." But, I rarely post due to being a bit too busy and a lack of adding much substance to the discussion on most occasions. I realize that doesn't hold back 90-95% of you, but go for it because you frequent posters provide content for us lurkers to come by and read on a regular basis.

Lurkers and newbies just have to learn that if Law is arguing a certain record was 7-5 in March it will be 4-8 by April. Facts aren't important here; the general point is. Facts are fungible on this board and others; this board just laughs about that more. As a "sports bar" setting, we should be permitted a few drinks in level of exaggeration to make our points.

Most importantly, when making posts, this board can honestly observe what its members see with their own eyes, even if 2222 retroactively forces/d his eyes to see open receivers via a video editing company owned by Nussmeier's daughter.

My first post on this board (or any board ever) completely bashed our coach and how his sideline demeanor and lack of engagement demonstrated he had quit before the season started. I wasn't attacked, though some still fought for Mac, because I wasn't incoherent or illogical. That is the sign of a good place. Well done Ox. Add one more Stuart Smalley mirror image telling you that "you're good enough and people like you."

F#@K FSU, UGA, Z#$K, Muschamp, and Mac.

Long live GatorChatter and the Godfather of Florida Football, SOS.

Lol. Thanks. I don't do personal attacks. If you want to include me calling someone a pumper then I guess I'm guilty. But you'll never see me get personal about someone's race, sex, political affiation etc.

I get that fact. I also never said anything about effecting the core group.

While I always want new members, visitors continue to rise, up 25% this year from last year and 50% from 2016.

Any site should grow over time simply by existing unless it is actively driving people away. I'd be less interested in viewing numbers, and more interested in how many people have registered (and actually become active members) year over year, and likewise how many real accounts have been abandoned (not banned) as people walk away, or how many posters are active in a forum year over year. That's more telling of how attractive a community is for joining, beyond being a spectacle. I don't expect you to share the numbers, and I honestly don't care for them, as growth isn't a goal so these metrics are not needed.

Btw, car accidents attract viewers as well. So does all kinds of random crap on the internet ... once people find it.

On a last note since you've leveled a whole bunch of crap, you said this:

...

Tell me specifically what was raised last year that didn't get any attention.

I've leveled a bunch of crap? :dunno: I was offering feedback, I thought that was the request you made. Sorry my opinion isn't wanted. I'm not wasting my time dredging last year's thread, or even this year's, for suggestions you ignore or shut down. Likewise, I'm not going to outline all the nifty things you've done with the site over the last year that nobody asked for (email summaries, anyone?). This antagonistic approach to defend your position flies directly against a request for feedback on 'the state of the board'. A preference to defend and argue current positions over sharing ideas for improvement is exactly the type commentary that makes it not enjoyable for me to be a participant. That isn't just you right here, that's a lot of the core group in most threads.

I’ve sent you tell someone to drink bleach dozens of times. Is that a personal attack?

It's a joke from the last board. I don't really mean for someone to drink bleach. Do you honestly think I meant it? I forgot who used to always post it.

Ahh, but I’ve seen you use it when you’ve been in heated arguments so it’s not perceived as a joke. Just sayin...

Those ads are based off of your search history. Just sayin'.

So.... on that note. Someone keeps posting a pic of one of those grumpy tv chef guys saying "fkkking donkey". I thought it should get a litle bit of time as my avatar.

Dont ever google "fkking donkey".

TLB, try not to take stuff personal. I would like to see you back posting.

Thanks, but I'm not. None of this is personal, from my side or anyone else's. It's the nature of this board, and everyone can either fit in or not. It's that simple.

Ox is right I take things too seriously most of the time. But again, it's the nature of the board to NOT take things seriously. Fit in, or not.

i've already met my quota for yearly board requests since Harvey is now an official emote, but my only other suggestion would be adding a "non-gator" sports forum.

It would be nice to discuss other sports with the people we get used to talking with in the same type sports bar atmosphere.
