Is there any part of you that would like to go 11-1 and let KY have the east?

I know that sounds weak and it probably is, but I fear we just don't have the roster to play with Bama...yet.

Probably moot. I can't see KY winning out.

Fwiw, I hate Alabama with a passion that burns as bright as the sun. My in-laws are Tide people. They were insufferable before Saban. You can imagine what it's been like since '09.

We definitely don't have the roster to beat Alabama yet. I'd prefer to not be in the SEC title game, make it to a good bowl game and end the season with good momentum heading into next year.

If we go 11-1 and KY still takes the East, they will have earned it.

Nobody has the talent level that bama has. I'm not worried about losing to them, Mullens will use it to get the team better, just like the loss to KY.

Just need this staff to recruit at a high level, fill the holes on the roster, then we can get back to hunting for championships.

I figured we'd win between 6 and 8 games this year. We're getting real close to playing w/ house money. I don't care either way. Sure, I'd love to go to Atlanta - because it would mean we beat UGA. I'd love to go 11-1, which would mean we beat FSU. But so far, this year has been a very, very pleasant surprise.

I still think UGA, Missouri, and FSU will be tough games (for various reasons). So, I'm going to try not to get too upset if we do lose any of those games. I want to see progress and a positive future for our program - which is something we haven't seen since 2008 or so.

I think beating uga (uga will beat UK) and then going to Atlanta will give our program a real chance to see how far we have come. If are earn it I want our boys to get there. IF uk earns it so be it. IF we do beat uga and fsu ( i know we dont have to) our boys need to see what the best is and give them a bar to shoot for. You are probably thinking us VS bama might turn out like that 96 Nebraska debacle.

Kentucky win the east? is this a serious question?

We're still pretending Kentucky's a great team right? Trying to downplay the loss?

I predicted a 7-5 season.

I’ll take any scenario above that, with or without having to play Bama.

It’s icing on the cake for me.

I don't see the benefit of winning the east and losing 48-13 to bama. I just don't. I think the kitties lose the next 2 games. So, we beat UGly we should win the east and will be playing bama.

I'd still rather play for a SEC title. That said, if we go 11-1 and don't make it to Atlanta, then we'd have a shot at making the playoff, which wouldn't be bad. We'd obviously need a few other teams to lose, but it would be a possibility. Either way, we play Bama. That said, UK isn't going undefeated. They'll lose to either Mizzou, UGA, or both.

No. But if there was a part of me that did feel that way, I'd promptly have it amputated or surgically removed.

I know everyone has a raging hardon for Bama at the current moment, and to be honest Bama has done nothing to let anyone believe they shouldn't be worthy of those hardons .. but .. have they really played and beat anyone yet this season? The LSU game will be a good measuring stick. Teams have put points on Bama this year. There is something to be said about a team that has it a bit easy for the first half and then find themselves in a tough game later in the season versus a team that got tested early.

With all that said, I want out team to play tough games. Our NC seasons ... we beat the best during the regular season and then cruised in the NC games.

I agree with you that simply taking a beating on that stage wouldn't do much good. But I don't think we would lose like that, personally. If we manage to win the East, we will be as battle-tested as they are and have a similar record, with several common opponents. This isn't a '15/'16 scenario where someone has to win a terribly weak division and be a sacrificial lamb in Atlanta. I think it would be a legitimate game, and would help us from a perception standpoint.

I think winning the East will further establish DM’s rep with recruits. If we can look competitive vs bamuh, even more so. Gotta admit I won’t have a ton of confidence vs bamuh unless lswho takes them down to the final play in two weeks. First, we gotta see how our guys are able to handle the butt sniffers.

I think Texas A&M's a good team. Their only two losses are to Bama and Clemson, and the Clemson game was really close.

I do agree that this LSU game will give everyone a better idea as to how good they really are. Maybe in this game their starters will actually play in the 4th quarter.

No. But pretending that it took a great team to beat UF, AT THAT POINT IN TIME, would be just as stupid. Just sayin.' Oh, and by the way, 6-1, regardless of who we lost to, is a gigantic step forward. Even my stupid ass knows that much.

I agree that aTm is a good team, but I think it kinda fits into the same category as UK's win against us. New coach, new program, too early in the season to really say they were good then. Especially against a Bama or Clemson early in the season.
