Should just wait until after the college season is done....like football and basketball.

I’ll post this in the baseball thread as well, but Gators had 4 of their 14 2018 recruits get drafted on the first day; 3 in 1st and 1 in the 2nd. Lot of talent not coming to Gainesville but was probably to be expected. That leaves 10 recruits in the class so we’ll see what’s left after today’s rounds.

These guys have to report to rookie camps/A-ball. Some of these players seasons have been over for 2, 3 or more weeks now. There are only 64 teams that make the D1 tournament. They hold the draft now to fill their rookie-league teams. The players still playing happen to play on good teams. The rest of the kids seasons are over. Basically, MLB isn't going to fix something that's not broken.

        And then there's this......

According to my personal punishment regarding convicted child molesters, if he can be an effective pitcher after being physically castrated, then let him pitch in the prison league.

As BMF said above once the college season is over they have to report to A+ ball. I remember a few years ago, an LSU pitcher was picked (believe 1st overall) by the Phillies, a few days later I was watching his first professional game pitched for the Clearwater threshers, sitting a few rows in front of his family (really nice people). He lasted a hand full of starts before moving up. The draft happens this early, because most of these kids (at least in college) can help out their A+ teams after the minor league all star break.

Real problem is college baseball season is too long, shorten it by a month or start earlier.

            Thought you'd like this:

Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin calls out MLB for hosting draft during NCAA Tournament

            https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/v...rbin-calls-mlb-hosting-draft-ncaa-tournament/

"It doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever. Think about having the NFL Draft on January 1st or the NBA Draft on Sweet 16 weekend…the timing is terrible."

“It’s borderline disrespectful,” he said. “It’s tough. I say that with respect, as I understand professional baseball is in a certain situation.”

Will the MLB change the timing of the draft in the future? It seems as if more college athletes and coaches are speaking out against it, so it is possible.

Sully was very straightforward about the timing of the MLB draft in his Monday postgame comments also.

Funny how this worked out for me as I am not a MLB fan and the only team a remotely follow are the REDS b/c I grew up in that region during the Big Red Machine years. So I am happy that I can follow Indy and probably Byrne (I think he will sign). but the REDS are awful and will be for quite a while

If Byrne thinks he can make it as a starter he should come back, the Reds are absolutely horrible at developing pitchers.

I'm a Reds fan, it's like Muschamp and offense.
