Barry was a singular talent. Just incredible. Could you imagine his stats behind the 90s OL Emmitt rushed behind? Those records may never have broken.

Amazing talent and class act. I loved how he just handed the ball to the ref after a TD like it was no big deal. Too bad he retired early, because he would have over 20,000 yards rushing for his career.

You have it backwards Emmitt made that oline, not the other way around.
I don’t remember Hershel being dominate behind that line and I can’t name the guy that followed behind him there.
As for Sanders, electric, but not the GOAT.

Edit: Emmitts rushing record will never be broken and he doesn’t need a what if.

Then there is no way you can say that Emmitt was.

OK, if T&T can't say it, I can. Emmitt Smith is the GOAT in college and the NFL. I watched him in High School (my cousins went to Escambia), at Florida, and in the pros. Barry was sweet runner but Emmitt ran with determination and got the hole fast enough to make a mundane OL look stellar.
't say

Funny he leaves out Barry, the guy that gifted him the record

I don't think Barry is top five complete running backs, just due to the fact he was removed from the game whenever they did short yardage... but Barry is top five. And is the best open field runner in NFL history, the only one that compares to him in that regard is Sayers.

A hunderds likes for this. Emmitt, his whole career was told he wasnt that good. A lugger by douche Emfinger. All he did was produce. And got out with his head still clear. Barry was smart to leave when he did. Too many hits have been proven lethal.

His yardage and rings do not tell lies. RB's are usually short lived in the nfl. It takes lots of ability, talent, smarts and solid work ethic to have that longevity. And some luck. But luck as we all know luck is when preparation meets opportunity.........

I would have LOVED to seen him in HS, His #s were incredible. My take on his style was 1. he hit high speed really fast. 2.Super vision 3.he was so stable and low to the ground he used contact from hits to gain more momentum.

As for Sanders, electric, but not the GOAT

Barry:
Key Stats: 15,269 rushing yards (third), 99 rushing touchdowns (fifth), 5.0 yards per carry, 2,921 receiving yards

Emmitt (aka the GOAT):
Key Stats: 18,355 rushing yards (first), 164 rushing touchdowns (first), 4.2 yards per carry, 3,224 receiving yards

And... only .8 yards per carry less than Barry.

Barry made plays that nobody else could come close to, with a better team he would have several championship rings. Everyone must remember it is a team sport, without that no championship play will happen.

This debate has gone on for decades now. Sanders was not known for wearing down defenses and killing the clock, which is what Emmitt excelled out. In fact, Barry led the NFL in carries for losses every season. He was always looking for the big run and often ran backwards.

If I'm wanting to build a Super Bowl team, I go with Emmitt, not Sanders.

BOOOOM!!! diddy puts it in black white.......btw..Jim Brown 5.2 yards per carry. That guy was the MAN. And when they wanted to hammer the black guys. Most of the players were white then. But probably in his favor ;)
