I’ve never been a charitable person. In fact, I’ve always been pretty harsh towards panhandlers. That said, the company I work for is into community involvement (particularly with underprivileged children) so I’ve volunteered at about a half dozen events the last few years. Gotta say, it’s a rewarding experience that I look forward to sharing with my son when he’s old enough. Last year at a conference in Southern California, we did some team building exercises that culminated in the assembly of 50 new bicycles. At the conclusion, we gave them away to kids that never had a bike before. It was one of the greatest things I’ve ever witnessed watching those children’s faces light up with excitement. Who doesn’t remember their first bicycle? It was friggin awesome!
Kudos to that dad for doing a great job with his son!
