No I think that's more like rock crawling. We do high speed runs down dirt roads, trails, dry lake beds, and washes.
Top Gear has a big story coming out on this race. My truck made the teaser.

It's supposed to be a truck but really it's a tube frame vehicle. The steel cab and doors plus about 8 feet of the original frame are all that's left of the original 75 Chevy K20 I started with. The fenders and hood are just fiberglass skins that bolt to brackets on the tube frame. The rear suspension isn't leaf springs like a normal truck, it's long trailing arms more like a motorcycle. We came down the trail on day 3 and some locals frantically flagged us down and told us a buggy had gone off the cliff. We got out and looked and sure enough they were about 150 feet below us. Had to climb down, render first aid, call in a chopper, and exfiltrate them from the canyon. One guy had to be carried out on a backboard with a broken neck and several crushed vertebra. The other guy limped down with a taped up broken leg, knee, and sternum. After 3 hours there we continued in the dark and finished the stage.

Yep, as Zambo said its rock crawling. Lot of jacked up jeeps out there. Wife and I did a few legs of it on our honeymoon on ATVs. Sore, let's just say. Cool trail though.
