Never saw them live but I did like a lot of their music.
I went to a show in Leesburg, Va last night :
"Almost Queen"... this band looked and sounded a lot like Queen.
They also did some deep album cuts which were a lot heavier than I remember Queen being.

If they're in your area...check them out. They were great.

I was a huge Queen fan growing up. Still like them a lot today but that was all I listened to for a long time.

Takes some real balls to cover Freddy Mercury. Dude's voice was amazing.

Ditto for Steve Perry.

Robert Plant is near impossible to cover as well.

I listened to Queen a lot in HS, mixed in with my late 70s to early 80s punk and new wave. They were my favorite 'heavy' band at the time. Fat bottomed girls make the rockin' world go round! :naughty:
In Jr. High, Led Zeppelin was the only band that mattered to me (likely my rebellion against all things pop and disco).

There will never be another front man as good as Mercury. It's a lifetime battle for 2nd place.

The kind of guy that would go see "Almost Queen" is the kind of guy that would go for an "Almost Chick"

This.

Queen created so many songs that make you sing along like a madman while speeding down the interstate.

Definitely a fan of their earlier work.
Queen 1 "Keep Your Self Alive" and "Liar" come to mind.
Queen II wore the groves off.
Sheer Heart Attack also didn't have a bad song that I remember.
Night at the opera starts with "Death on Two Legs" then gets silly. But of course it ends with Bo Rhapsody.
A Day At The Races started with "Tie your Mother Down." and then not so memorable.
News of the World at least had "Sheer Heart Attack" on it.
Jazz - well that was the end of my Queen fandom. "Fat Bottom Girls" and "Bicycle Race". We were like "what is this garbage?"
They went too pop for my tastes.
But the old stuff I used to listen to on a HiFi reel to reel with headphones and just be amazed at the sounds Brian May emitted from a guitar.

Guess I was a fan of Bran May not so much Queen.

Queen was incredible. Bands like the one you saw are always entertaining. I saw a show that had two tribute bands, one dressed and played as the Crue and the other was GNR. Very fun.
