Tyler Dyson drafted in the 5th Round, pick #153, by the Nationals. Pick value $346,800. What will he do?
Hunter Barco still undrafted. Looks like UF may finally get a big time lefty pitcher.
Your question was addressed previously in this thread. 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft: Who are the best players available on Day 2?Is Barco falling because he isn't as good as draft experts thought or is it about him going to UF and teams don't want to risk the pick?
Dyson going that high shocks me since he is such a massive headcase.
Sometimes it's hard to get info on the baseball team in the late summer & fall, but I'll try. Here's the latest on our 2019 recruiting class:Ocala, can you update before the fall semester starts on who is coming in as frosh and who might return, if drafted? maConnell gone for sure. Bat will be missed but his glove will not. Dalton probably gone, but won;t be missed. Kid who was #5 overall is not coming for good reason. Saw that Allan was drafted 3rd round, but was projected 1st round? High school guy projected that high could show up on campus. Dyson probably gone, even tho could improve his stock with a good year. But history shows he will have an 'injury" if he stays here. I suspect he will forgo his last year.
We shall see. He's certainly got leverage with the Mets. Hope the negotiations fall through and he ends up in Gainesville.According to this article, Allan assured the Mets he’s signing with them.
Mets get No. 13 Draft prospect Allan at No. 89
I think he ends up at UF, too. But some of these kids don't want to go to college. And then there's the 12 baseball scholarships that have to be divided among 30 players or so. Don't know his family situation, but playing college baseball ain't a free ride like in football and basketball and many of these kids are expected to pay their own way, or at least a big chunk of the cost.So the kid from Ocala has a tough decision? Says he was a "10", so was it b/c of injury that he went 13th round? Are the Braves going to drop a 7fig signing bonus in his lap? NO!. If the kid just wants to get his pro ball career going then fine, but if he wants to grow and try for a better signing bonus, I don;t see much of a decision.
