I'm curious what you think of the popularity or importance of the Gator athletic programs. Let's agree that among Gator athletics, football is still king at #1 and basketball is a clear #2. After those, which sport do you think is next? I'll let you determine the criteria - popularity, fan involvement, importance, most interesting to you personally, etc.

I watch and follow all Gator sports and the SEC Network has been great for being able to watch more "other" sports than ever before. I chose softball because of the climb to championship status over the years, then achieving the National title the past two years...about an 8 year run of true program building excellence. Gymnastics would be next, but it just doesn't have the national participation that other sports do. Hard to argue with 3 Natty's in a row though!

With the new ESPN contract baseball has received so much more exposure. Not just the CWS, but throughout the season. It's clearly #3 and gaining momentum. The baseball draft is even discussed at length with college stars all over the upper rounds. This is not just for UF, but nationally.

It's much more important to me that the Gators win the CWS than any championships of the sports listed above.

Bill Harlan is rolling over in his grave that you didn't put swimming on the list.

We're no longer a football school.

Gold = Softball
Silver = Gymnastics
Bronze = LAX

Sorry Joe. I thought about swimming when I conceived this thread idea (ironically in the shower :lol: ), but forgot to put them in. I also never went to any swim meet when I was a student. I should have though. :-/

While LAX is fairly new - those girls have a dynasty in the making. Just wait until we start getting the recruits that would normally be going to the traditional powerhouses.
We will be so skrong den.

I believe baseball should be number 3. Followed by softball.

I'd prefer to watch a softball game. Sitting through a regular season baseball game can be brutal. I can usually only watch a few innings before I have to find something else. :lol:

I see Softball & Baseball as 3a & 3b, you can choose which is which. I would probably put softball as 3a

I agree that softball is more entertaining to me, but I believe baseball has a bigger following for whatever reason.

Gotta flip that. Softball has girls, and they play less innings.
