The quagmire of "loss of down" portion of that penalty, coinciding with the "can't end a
game on a penalty" part, caused the refs to go to logic instead of the rule specifically for
that kind of situation. Logic caused the refs to decide that CM should get a "last play"
after time had expired. Any team failing at running out the clock like that deserves to lose.

wowzer.. That's nuts. I'm sure that's why he was coached to throw away instead of just kneeling down or running a running play. That throw would take more time off the clock than anything. The moral of the story is to not let CMU (or umass or app state or Nicholls u) have a chance in the 4th or something crazy might happen to you.


Or, if you are a HBC and a man, know the damn rules!
