Yeah, OL is going to have to be a huge priority for whoever Foley hires. It's a mess.

We should pluck any OL/DL/LB or WR that program has! They won 6 games this year and those kids can't be any worse off than some of the JUCO busts we've brought in over the years.

Can their QB hit the broadside of a barn? Well if so, then load him up on the plane as well.

By the time all the kids graduating, leaving early for the NFL, and transfer because Muschamp was fired, maybe we'll have room for their whole team?

Here's the depth chart, a lot of JRs and SRs in the starting lineup:

3 starting OL's are JRs and 1 is a Sophmore (starting LT, 6'6 324lbs)

1 starting WR is a Sophmore, 6'4.

If you have some time on your hands do some reading on the history of why this is happening at UAB and how historically BAMA and its alumni have been a huge factor in limiting the growth of all the athletic programs at UAB dating back to Bear Bryant. It was quite interesting to see the back room local politics going on to put a supposedly "sister" entity at such a severe disadvantage within their own state and conference.

MattM, you are right. This whole thing goes back to Paul Bryant Jr. He was the one who blocked Jimbo Fisher from getting the job there 7 years ago. They have had donors willing to give $5million or more for facilities upgrades and somehow Bryant was able to nix it. That program had no chance. I just don't understand why they didn't drop to 1AA.

Read this on another board:

the biggest hindrance was one of the most powerful men in alabama, Paul Bryant Jr, had a vendetta against UAB because Bear and Gene Bartow had a nasty relationship. We had funding sewn up years ago for a new on-campus stadium and he nixed it...we had Jimbo Fisher penned to become HC in 2006 and he nixed it and put his own buddy in as coach (which we never really recovered from). We've had rich boosters pledge $5M for new practice facility, weight room, etc and he nixed it. We had Houston Nutt wanting the job that ****ty McGhee got and he wouldn't even let him interview.

fact is his lifelong mission to destroy UAB was over unless he got it done ASAP. he turns 70 in 2 weeks and board of trustees have to retire in the next meeting after their 70th birthday which is feb 2015.

I have news for you, we need RBs also needed once Jones and Brown leave.

And how pray tell did you forget TE?

They had some decent teams under Watson Brown and some good upsets, then this happened and the program never recovered:

New coach needs to do some quick analysis on the UAB players.

Conventional wisdom will tell you that a 6'4" 325lb freshman went to UAB for a reason. Who knows there may be a couple on that roster that could help us though.

We're kinda desperate for bodies at this point. Coaching can work with bodies, they can't work with vacancies.

Hey Muschamp said not to let anyone fool us - that he left us with a loaded and talented roster.

Agree, the freshman went to UAB for a reason....they weren't good enough for bigger schools. I don't think anyone wants the Freshman on their roster. The Soph or Junior starters (one or two of them) would be the one's to go after; they have starting D1 experience, would be eligible immediately, and would provide much needed depth. And you never know, one of them may become a starter.
