It's a shame what they did to Luke. It was an ok movie but below par for a Star Wars movie.
In fairness, IMDB user reviews are a pretty horrible source for movie opinions.
True. But the distaste is unanimous. Everybody hates it. Some reasons are unique but most are shared.
Watching Westworld, 7 episodes into season 1. I saw the original movie in the theater then many more times on HBO when that started. This is radically different and I’m enjoying its exploration of sentience & the responsibilities of creature and creator. Nice nod to Yul Brynner in 1:5. Other takes?
I recommend seeing "The Disaster Artist". It was really entertaining and based on a true story. I had quite a few really good laughs at this one. It's about the making of what is considered the worst movie ever made. My son was home for Christmas and recommended it. I hadn't heard anything about it or the movie it was about called "The Room". I read up a bit about "The Room" on Wikipedia to get the back story and I recommend doing that if you hadn't heard anything about it. Also, some of the worst lines from the original movie can be found on Youtube but I'd wait until seeing "The Disaster Artist" first so it doesn't ruin it for you. Not a big James Franco fan but he was outstanding in this one. I give it .
Watched The Revenant last night. Whoa, what an intense film. Had a hard time understanding the dialect at times, but that was also due to the mumbling. Fantastic movie and a little mind blowing.
It's pretty good. You just have to keep track of the multiple timelines. Season 2 will be back sometime in the spring. In the mean time here's Delores riding a horse.
Most people give it a Hi Mark.
My wife and I watched the Secret Lives of Pets cartoon last night. I'm almost embarrassed at how hard I was laughing. Good way to kill 90 minutes or so.
It certainly looks quite interesting.
Saturn 3. Quality flique.
One of the best tv shows I’ve seen. Can’t wait for the new season.
Watched The Grand Budapest Hotel. Good film and very creative writing. Also thought the acting was well done. Anyone else see it?
Not yet but will add it to my list.
Saw Last Jedi Yesterday with my daughter....... OUCH... would be a better movie if it wasn't a star wars movie. About an hour and a half of the 2:21 run time could be removed and it wouldn't change the story/plot in the slightest. Where Episode 7 and Rogue One were moving in the right direction, this went full prequel. I get the feeling the Director heard Lucas pissed off Star Wars fans with the prequels, and he said Lucas hold my beer. There is some good, the first 30 and last 30 minutes were beautifully shot and well executed. I just don't really know the purpose of everything inbetween. Even in the prequels you were at least advancing the plot forward, to a logical conclusion. This was a middle movie for the sake of a middle movie. 4/10 ThreatMatrix Matrix: There was a 8 boob alien, but nothing was seen or harmed.
King Arthur: Legend of the sword - a new take on the rise of King Arthur. He is raised poor after his father, the real king, is murdered and his magical sword put in stone. He pulls it, supernatural stuff happens and he fights the bad guys. He also has his band of followers to help them out and at times feels more like Robin Hood. I liked the cast. Most you will recognize even if you don't know the name. The story got a little off track at times and could have shaved some time. This movie was killed by critics and bombed at the box office. However the action, music and humor actually made it enjoyable. It's a popcorn flick at best. No boobs other than some weird octopus monster. 5/10.
So, as the Justice League didn't suck....it got me to give consideration to Batman v Superman, which I spent effort to avoid given I don't care for Affleck that much nor did I give a thought to rebooting of Superman. Upon watching BvS, it got me to actually watch Man of Steel. It felt awkward, watching three films in reverse order, but each gave enough to make me want to know what happened beforehand. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) So, putting aside any nasea regarding Affleck as Batman, I felt it came off decently well. It definitely provided good fodder points for Justice League in that it brought Wonder Woman together with the two leads, and gave a quick foreshadowing with Flash and a hint of Aquaman. Hence the subtitle "Dawn of Justice". Standing on it's own, it was acceptable, IMO. Not great, although I will give a lot of props to both the Lex actor/character for bringing a fresh take on that role and how it pits our two heroes against one another. It was a little weak in how easily the two were set against one another (manipulations of Batman being the most glaring weakness), but not as weak as when they reconciled by a single word. IMDB trivia indicates they wanted Batman to be all muscle, less gadgets...meh. Still had plenty of gadgets to take on Superman and the baddies. A few good one liners, no boobs but enough screen time of Gal Gadot and Amy Adams to make me appreciate the 'scenery'. 6/10. Man of Steel (2013) So I now want to see more Amy Adams, and see how much of the backstory they provide for a reboot on Superman. I didn't like how it jumped quickly from an opening segue of Krypton to suddenly Clark Kent is an adult, but they made up for it with plenty of flashbacks. I do like the job done by the actress portraying his mother, and our General Zod was also well cast. I *HAVE* to give props to the big fight between our Kryptonians (Zod's guys) vs Superman. It lived up to the memory of Christopher Reeves fight and then some. I really liked the casting of both of Kent's fathers (Krypton and Earth). All in all a good reboot, IMO, in that it started with 'Who am I?' and turned it into 'Who do I want to be?' as Superman progresses. It also lays in several events that feed into the BvS sequel. No boobs, and I'd love some Amy Adams boobs...but yeah, no boobs. 6/10
Dark Tower - I actually enjoyed this, but have never read the books so I don’t know the difference. Without knowledge of that it’s a alternate world jumping science fiction movie with a few descent action scenes and it’s not to long. Basically the big bad wants to bring demons to earth and the gunslinger has to stop him. Throw in psychics and all that stuff as well. 5/10 but no boobs. If your not a fan of the book you’ll think it’s descent. If you are a fan of the book I don’t know how you’ll feel.
Too bad she’s not riding a Swamp Donkey- amirite?
