This kid was committed in the same class w/ Tebow (I think) and backed out (didn't Meyer tell him they were recruiting Tebow as a LB or something?):

Report: Former Texas, Ole Miss QB Jevan Snead dies at 32

Former Texas and Ole Miss quarterback Jevan Snead has died at the age of 32, according to a report from the Austin American-Statesman.

Per the report, Snead died in Austin, TX and police do not suspect that foul play was involved.

Snead was a highly touted quarterback prospect coming out of Stephenville High School, and he signed with the Texas Longhorns as a four-star recruit in the 2006 signing class under Mack Brown. Snead saw action as a true freshman when Colt McCoy went down with an injury, but he transferred to Ole Miss at the end of the season.

After sitting out in 2007 due to NCAA transfer rules, Snead led the Ole Miss offense in 2008 and 2009. In two years with the Rebels, Snead threw for 5,394 yards and 46 touchdowns. In that 2008 season, Snead led Ole Miss to a nine-win season, which included a win over the No. 4 Florida Gators in The Swamp.

Very sad. RIP.

Remind me. Is this the kid that we took Brantley over?
Brantley was the following year, ironically also recruited by Texas. Snead was rated one of the nation's top dual-threat quarterbacks.

We ended up with a pretty decent dual threat that year. Tebow.

That’s all on CTE. People or their parents have to decide before they commit to playing the sport if they want to take on the risk. It’s going to happen again and again and again.

CTE haunts many areas of activity: dirt biking, snowboarding (X-games style), boxing, professional wrestling. etc. The brain undergoes proportional organic damage, at first the youngish brain by remodeling can shift "brain-duties" into "side-neuronal networks to, by imitation, networks to operate tasks in lesser precision than before. Ageing is more pronounced. And frustration increases.

I'm sorry for what happened to Jevan Snead, but you can't blame what happened to him all on CTE. There are way more football players who took the hits he did during their careers who have not developed dementia at age 32. Snead also had problems with alcohol which can cause an early dementia in some people if alcohol is used to excess. I don't know if Snead used drugs or not. Severe depression can cause a pseudo-dementia. The combination of CTE, alcohol and depression probably all played a role to some degree in Snead's eventual dementia and suicide.

Snead was 32. He was at the age when he knew that any career in the NFL was not going to happen.

There is a grieving family. They want to look for answers to what happened. They can try to blame it all on CTE and not have to come to grips with the other factors that I mentioned. Sure it is sad and I feel for the Snead family, but I wouldn't blame this all on CTE.
