He had a 113-94 career record (and was 4-8 in the playoffs).....and he went 15-1 in 1998, barely missing the Super Bowl (on a missed FG). He wasn't "great" by any means, but definitely better than "mediocre". Mediocre is LDR's dad.....and plenty of others w/ sub .500 records.

NFL coaching is one of the most over rated jobs in sports. They work a lot but have virtually zero impact on the game. If you don't have a QB, your team is always going to suck.

The only exception that I can think of to this were the Buccaneers under Dungy.

That was crazy in 98 when Moss was virtually unstoppable.

More overrated than NBA headcoach? MLB Manager? College Football HeadCoach? If the teams and talent are roughly equal, coaching and coaching up said quarterback seems pretty damn important.

Could you blame Dennis for losing it? The Cardinals led 20-0 at the half and carried a 13-point lead into the fourth quarter at home. Darnell Dockett's 73-yard TD return of a Rex Grossman pick was overturned (how's that for poetic justice, UF fans?) when the Bears challenged and he was ruled down by contact. Brian Urlacher then stripped Edgerrin James and Peanut Tillman returned the ball for a score. Devin Hester then capped the comeback with an 83-yard punt return.

Boom. The Cards' hope of turning back the undefeated Bears were down the toilet in front of a huge national TV audience.

You could practically see steam coming from Green's ears in the post-game interview. Hey, I get it. I'd have been pissed, too.
