Ah, see, I knew this was posted somewhere already. But does the thread have a killer Dumb and Dumber reference? It will soon.

How would Walker even know if any of that was true though?

Huh? The quote is Mullen taking a shot at Kirby because his star QB transferred out. Guess what? This is two years in a row he's had a 4-star true freshman leave before ever getting to the first game. The expression "glass houses" comes to mind.

I get that. But in the context of Walker, I'm not sure how that applies. No spring ball, no team activities, dude isn't even on campus. Steele I get, but Walker? I think something else was going on.

I don't disagree with the sentiment here. It's more of a bad trend with certain members of our staff. The fact that we were once, just recently, mocking others for it only makes it worse. But while I'm not defending Mullen & Co at all here, I wouldn't be shocked if we saw more of this, especially from EEs who enrolled, barely had a chance to get acclimated to a new, harsher reality, only to then go back home to mom, with tons of time to think. This could very well reshape recruiting and make the focus that much more regional and in-state. Obviously this kid would fall into both of those categories, so it's not full proof. But I wonder how many kids and parents are rethinking their school choice right now, particularly if they're a ways away from home.

But still, it's ridiculous that we're having this issue again.

It doesn't matter. It's about perception. None of us know exactly why Fields left UGA, except for the chance to start immediately somewhere else - so is that really Kirby's fault? He had a pretty darn good starting QB already. The fact is Mullen made that comment...then had not one, but TWO kids do the same thing.

I'm reading Walker was homesick, simple as that. I guess he went back to Miami and got to hang around the house after two months of matt drills and heavy weight lifting, enjoyed some family/momma time and thought, "I don't want to go back". It sucks, but the reality is he's in the portal...so the perception is there's a "culture" problem or some other issue at UF that we can't keep kids on campus. At this point, parents are going to ask, "WTF is going on over there!?!" It's ridiculous, either way.

I'm over recruiting anyway. We always have a schit show in pre session. Either chimps injury bug. Thr credit card 10. Or this. Just get the fcuking season started.

Didn't we lose about 8 dudes from last years class, and we lost the best tackle in a while. Now this year can't pin completely on the staff, because this is a situation we are all having to learn how to deal with and adjust. But it's another year where we are told they need another year to get the show going, and another year where when the team hits the field, it will be with three consecutive classes that when it counts is a 10-20 class, not the same value it was in February. This comes back to the CEO and his attention to detail and his personel.

Society has changed. Kids quit and adults fall apart. I preferred it when parents didn’t make it so easy to quit and adults laughed at them when they did. It doesn’t appear that the pendulum will swing back any time soon.

I think we’re all just ready and way past due for a run of nothing really freaking weird happening. This weirdness started McElwain’s last year when half the team got suspended for the credit card issues. Then Mullen’s first offseason, we get the Jones/Steele saga. Even during this past season we had the curious case of Chris Bleich, freshman guard who UF had devoted a lot of time developing, his best years clearly ahead of him, even if he sucked at the moment, transferring midseason after starting about every game while the team is still contending for the SECe. And now we have a guy transfer, get this, during quarantining at home. He’s the opposite of homesick. Weird, makes zero sense. Yeah, maybe the guy has depression or bipolar issues, if so, that wasn’t detected during the recruiting process?

Maybe there’s more to this, I’ve seen the rumors of Stewart Reese from Miss State transferring in, but nothing official. Maybe that news turned Walker off? Maybe Walker was slacking off on his quarantine workouts and was receiving tough love from the coaches? Again, it seems that softness would have been detected in recruiting.
