I moved from Gainesville in 2012 and visited in 2019. In 7 years the development around Butler Plaza has been truly insane. I got lost back there driving through because it looks completely different.

If you want a bit of a short drive, floating down the Itchetucknee River at the state park there is fantastic. It's about a 45 minute drive.

There’s also these electric scooters that you can apparently rent with an app. They’re all around the campus area. You just use it until you’re done, leave it and the company picks it up. Never done it, but looks fun. Just be careful on the sidewalks as there are people often sitting, especially near overhangs. Again the homeless.
