Here's what I think the cancer consists of from a Gator's perspective. Coach Mac thinks his job is to win; winning by one point and coaching to be "in the game" in the fourth quarter is not simply adequate but admirable. However, Gators are not watching football games for excitement. We watch to see opponents humbled by the end of the first quarter and their coaching staff humiliated and fired by the end of the game. I remember a time just before Bowden that the girls school was contemplating giving up football because we had beat them so bad and so often. That's the goal, beat whoever we play so bad and so often the school gives up the sport. Mac and company simply don't get it. Spurrier did.
