(from the Athletic):

Before this season, Georgia had not allowed 400 passing yards in a game since 2009. It’s now happened twice in three games.

Alabama threw for 417 yards in a win against the Bulldogs, and Florida’s Kyle Trask threw for 474 yards in a 44-28 Gators win on Saturday.

Georgia has allowed more 300-yard passers in its past three games (two) than it had in its previous 46 games combined (one, LSU in 2019).

Kyle Trask became the first player in SEC history with four passing touchdowns in five consecutive games.

Trask’s 474 yards were also the second-most in a game in school history, behind only Tim Tebow’s 482 against Cincinnati in 2010.

Tight end Kyle Pitts’ touchdown catch gave him eight this season. Georgia as a team has nine passing touchdowns.

Mississippi State became the first SEC team since at least 2000 to win a game despite having negative rushing yards.

Including three sacks, the Bulldogs rushed for minus-22 yards in a 24-17 win against Vanderbilt, the fewest in a win by any FBS team since Washington State had minus-38 rushing yards under Mike Leach against Arizona State in 2016.

Winning with negative rushing yards has happened 14 times since 2000, according to Sports Reference, and Mississippi State’s minus-22 are the third-fewest yards among that group.

Miami (Fla.) quarterback D’Eriq King has thrown for 400 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for 100 yards twice. Only four other players have done it once since 2000.

King finished with 430 passing yards, five passing touchdowns and 105 rushing yards in Friday’s win against NC State. Two years ago, while at Houston, King posted 419 yards and five touchdowns passing with 132 rushing yards against South Florida. According to Sports Reference, the other players to accomplish it since 2000 are Mississippi State’s Nick Fitzgerald (2016), Wyoming’s Brett Smith (2013), Clemson’s Tajh Boyd (2012) and Miami (Ohio)’s Zac Dysert (2012).

Penn State is 0-3 for the first time since 2001.

Maryland’s 35-19 win was its third win in 44 matchups with the Nittany Lions, and this was the first one by multiple scores. Maryland QB Taulia Tagovailoa has 676 passing yards over the past two games, the most in consecutive games for a Terps quarterback since Scott Milanovich in 1994.

USC’s 9 a.m. local kickoff against Arizona State was the earliest USC home game since at least the 1950s.

Complete records only go back that far. It’s known that an 1891 game against Loyola began at 9:30 a.m.

Quarterback Kedon Slovis’ 40 completions in the win were the most in USC history, and his 55 attempts were two shy of his own USC record set last year.

Not surprisingly, they can out flat in that 9:30 Loyola game and lost 2-10. Though I’ve always wondered if they’d ever really mentally recovered from the week one loss to the Olive Club. Nobody saw that coming.
