I don't understand the underlying question..... Did Mullin fire Seider? I didn't know he was run out of town. Was it a matter of money that caused him to move to PSU? I need to follow this board more closely. :dunno:

Seider is the one mistake I think Mullen has made...I think he's been pretty good since arriving and have no complaints except letting Seider go. Time will tell though...

Seider was asked to shift to TE coach to make room for DM to bring in his RB coach. I guess JS wasn’t thrilled, although he should’ve viewed it as an opportunity to expand his skill set and position himself for a future OC job. Still, hard to criticize someone who got moved out of his comfort zone and then lured away by a better offer.

There’s a lot to indicate DM has a solid plan for the program, but I never liked the decision to move JS, whether anyone believes he was forced out or not.

I don't think we'll ever know the truth, but I think if Mullen wanted Seider here, he would be here. He's gone for a reason.

He was invited to look for other jobs and switched positions to make room for a terrible running back coach who is also a terrible recruiter, but, I guess a friend of Mullinz.

The inside rumor is Mullinz didnt like him thinking the recruiting was all due to Seider's skill, and admittedly, EJ wasnt. Mullinz just didnt like Seider and didnt want anyone to whom the players might be more loyal, although players are generally more loyal to their own position coaches and QC's.

The biggest difference between Meyer and Mullinz is that Meyer went out and hired the best recruiters he could find from any staff, DJ from Stanford, that former HC from USF, Mattison from Meatchicken, Holliday from WVU or NC St (I forget), and we paid whatever it took. We had five or six great recruiters, though some werent the best position coaches.

Mullinz better learn this lesson in a hurry and if we fall flat in this class, hed better fix it with bew hires in Decemer.

Im just glad Seider didnt end up at Clown Town, Bammer or Ugly. It is sad though bc he WANTED to be here.

I think the stuff about Mullen worrying about the players being "more loyal" and that kind of crap is just nonsense.

Mullen didn't want him or he'd still be here. I'd be willing to bet it's because he just didn't think he was a very good position coach.

That doesn’t make any sense either. Stevie Wonder could see our RBs were the best and most improved unit after JS arrived. I’m pretty sure I saw Stevie tweet that.

So the theory is that Mullen knew he was great at his job but shuffled him out the door for some kind of strange personal reasons?

RB coaches are a joke. It's the easiest damn position on an entire team. Coaching kicking and punting is more difficult.

Emotion. A lot of these guys getting a "promotion" get swept up in the moment. Emotion turns into blind loyalty. I'll bet Mullen confides down the road it is one of his greatest regrets coming out of the gate. Who knows? It could end up costing him his job if he fails to get a fast start.

I agree with that. It is no doubt Mullinz perspective.

                    It is still wrong.

I'd probably take an average position coach who is a great recruiter over a great position coach who is an average recruiter.

Depends on the rest of the staff. Ideally, you have a good mix of both.

I would have made up a position for him just to keep him.

I think folks are hung up trying to imagine how he'd make a tweet when he can't see the characters on the phone. It's a deep concern that throws off the laugh factor.
