Jabar Gaffney, a 36-year-old former University of Florida football standout and wide receiver in the NFL, faces a domestic battery charge after he was arrested Tuesday at his home in Queens Harbor, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police responded to the home in the 700 block of Providence Island Court just after 9 a.m. to investigate an assault reported by Gaffney’s girlfriend, according to the arrest report. The woman said she’s been in a relationship with Gaffney for over a year and lives with him at the home.

The responding officer noticed a small red bump above the woman’s left eye where she said she was hit, according to the report. She said the physical contact happened during an argument when she was poked with two fingers in the forehead shortly after the two woke up.

The woman said Gaffney left the home after the argument and returned to find her talking with police over the phone, the report said. He left again and was arrested without incident when he got back.

Gaffney was a star at Raines High School before attending Florida on a football scholarship. He’s had several brushes with the law throughout his adult life, according to court records, including multiple arrests on marijuana charges.

Looks like all these idiots got together and hatched a plan to drag the University through the mud. I guess they couldn't handle all the positive momentum we had coming out of summer camp. ;)

Fat chance, I'm he sure was served a no trespass warning for his on house.

True - that happened to a buddy of mine where the girl truly made up a lie about him hitting her and had no marks etc. It took him thousands in lawyer fees and like 6 weeks to get her out of the home that he owned and she only lived in for like 2 weeks before that.

Stop picking up girls off 103rd street and stuff like this won't happen.

... and what has the world come to when you give someone a nice place to live and you can't even poke them in the forehead with 2 fingers? Geez! touchy, touchy.

Yeah, this is one of the crimes that men will always be guilty for until they prove they are not. This is one inequality that women seem to be okay with.

Will this be the first ever "Three Stooges" defense in a battery case?

This has really reached an epidemic at this point. How do we end this insanity? How can we teach NFL players to choose women who can learn to listen?

I do like that the Trump administration has made changes to that Title 9 BS that was allowing schools to ruin male students without even standard civil case law protections when females made a complaint against them - many of which were made up lies it turned out. The schools didn't care however and ruined the person anyway for PC reasons.
