Hard to say but that almost sounds like lawyer spin public relations with the less than 700k talk. You notice they wont give a figure higher than 250k for her probably due to lawyer math also where some expenses dont count against their 700k in their representation. My guess is its probably close to what actually happened or they would have straight up said they gave her 100k more or whatever because they know them getting that large of a chunk is bad pr with how lawyers are seen by the public.
LOL. Keep reaching at straws.
You rushed to the defense of this Rapeis and all the others it seems. Some day you will probably explain this to us.
You were impressively wrong again. You continue to try to spin the public 1 million dollar settlement as somehow a nuisance value, which is laughable. You somehow try to make yourself feel better by claiming the lawyers will get all of it, despite the fact that it is clear they would only get 40%. (And this was after you insisted no lawyer would take the case to begin with, and had to run away with your tail between your legs when several national big leaguers were fighting for the case.)
It about as simple of a case as there. There are no extraordinary expenses, ie tons of medical experts needed debating the nuances of all the medical records for three month hospitalization, scientific testing (ie xraying aircraft for stress fractures or something like that) that would justify anything beyond that. There is zero chance the attorneys got much more than about $400,000. They basically only had to review the records of the FSU Title IX "investigation" which was nearly non-existent.
Regardless, you don't pay 1 million dollars for a weak case. The way cases are settled is that a review is done by the lawyers and insurance adjusters involved. Sometimes multiple are used depending on the size of the case and the insurer involved. It's a lot more complex than this but it can be simplified to be that the experts determine that the local jury (or judge in a bench trial) are likely to find for the plaintiff and at what amount, say 50% for the plaintiff and the likely to give a 2 million dollar judgement would mean that you would settle at 1 million.
The rape victim is now a multimillionaire. Good for her.
