Jim McElwain's Introductory Press Conference

I guess I like him because he seems to have the same idea about football that I do. Too many coaches try to make it seem like football is so complicated and that putting together a winning team is like solving the space/time continuum. What it takes is a group of like minded guys with some skills and a certain attitude. The blocking, tackling and catching are pretty basic. I think Spurrier shares that attitude too.

We could've saved money and just hired you.

How many people do you think show for the O&B game?

Love this guy. It really is all about relationships, and having a personality goes a long way in that endeavor.

The O&B game isn't on the schedule yet, but I'll be flying down for that game, for sure.

I'm just glad i never have to hear Muschamp say the word program, or "progrum", or listen to him talk about losing eye control.

I'm sold. However, I've got to say that it feels kind of odd to have a coach that doesn't have a bit of a dislikable edge/d0uch3 quality to him. It feels like we've hired Billy D to coach football. We've had such a long tradition of having football coaches that everyone else found really easy to hate this is going to be a bit odd to have someone that can win and that opposing fans have a hard time talking bad about. I'm in an uncomfortable place, but I'm okay with that.

I actually believe he is a gator and really wants to be here. I think he could have long term success. He seems very confident. Cant wait to hear about all the recruits he is able to land and flip....

I actually thought Muschamp appeared stiff and a little unpolished. I chalked it up to nerves and eagerness.

Yes, they will hate him, but they'll also respect him, much like Billy D. Hearing things like, "I hate him, but he's a good guy" is going to take some getting used to. Gotta come up with new comebacks now.
