So that's a guaranteed $5m buyout, going down $500k/yr with every $1.25m he gets. Almost seems like incentive to suck and get fired.

Wonder how much Texas having a chub for him came into play with this. Great recruiter, great team, just needs to close the deal!

I like Sully but this is a bit much. Whats wrong with doing a 3 year deal with certain contingencies for longer or something like that.

@gatorhoops: O'Sullivan's new deal ($1.25 mil/yr) will make him highest paid coach in college baseball ahead of L'ville's Dan McDonnell ($1.06 mil/yr).

He can basically chill and become very complacent with that contract.
How is that different from how he already is?

If more people cared about baseball they would be outraged by this contract. Fortunately I don't care enough to really sound off. It's just safe to say we won't be winning it all for a long time.

By the way, where does Foley get off giving 10 year contracts in the last month of his tenure? You wouldn't let the new guy handle this? Seems like a slap at him.

Its crazy a college baseball coach is even capable of making money like this when the sport doesn't bring in any money. Heck you only see a very few people attending most games except the college world series.

Typical.

Fooley spends football money freely to pay top dollar for coaches for nonrevenue sports.

BUT, shops at Big Lots for football coaches that produce 100 plus million a year.

Never give a coach a contract extension with a raise until they actually win a championship. Didn't we learn after Muschamp?
