II'll withhold judgement for now as there are no details and the law enforcement can be overreactive or biased.However, it does seem like once you've been busted, even if you were targeted, you would be extra careful.
This may have to do in part with long term effects of pain meds on the mind and jusgement, but the guy needs to get some kind of intervention in his life. Didn't he have an oldest brother or other male relative who was a stable positive influence on him? Wonder if he is still in the picture.
