The article posits something that is at once obvious (who would want a "can't recruit" label?) and speculative because nowhere does it quote Mac or anyone close to him that he thinks he has such a label or acknowledges such a label as true.

It's also false in its stated premise - the Gators had a top 10 class per Rivals (9) & Scout (10), the two major services.

http://www.scout.com/college/football/recruiting/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=14&yr=2017

It's a hack piece.

That said, I agree that getting Fields would be a key step in restoring UF as a premier program. Tebow was key for Meyer's run at UF, jaMEis was for F$U's reemergence and Watson was to Clemson's rise.

You left off 247's and ESPN's class rankings...lol...why?

Many trash 247's on this board and I couldn't find/access ESPN's. I did find a composite on USA Today from signing day that had UF's average across services at 10.5, but tied for 9th among such averages. But I wasn't sure if they might have shifted with late news etc.

On average, they come out in that range anyway. My point stands. The article's premise is false.

The transition class in 2015 was 23rd coming off the worst 4 year period of Florida football in 30 years.
2016 was 14th
2017 was 9th
2018 with Fields will like be around 6th (limited only by how many we can take)
2019 is Currently ranked 1st
:dunno:

In fairness...if you look at the player average in 2019(and I understand players may get bumped up before then)....it won't end up being number one at all. That is being realistic not negative btw.

I think they were 11th and 13th respectively. Just an fyi.

I am a Rivals person but warming up to 247 a little.
