Losing to Oklahoma probably does make them a little more hungry for this game. If they would have won they probably would have thought they were going to beat us this time for sure.

I would think a decade worth of losing to us would make them hungry for this game.

Good point but teams get caught up in big wins many times.

And a win over UF would be bigger than a win over OK. So that OK loss means nothing for this game.

I think it could mean a TN that is taking things just a little more serious after that let down with Oklahoma but we will see soon I guess. Hopefully they keep the streak alive.

Every Vol fan on earth swears up and down that they were the much better team in 2012.

Must suck for them that much more that they lost.

Saying "we were better!" yet losing the game is more painful (for me) than just acknowledging the other guys had a better team.

I think Holtz gets credit for that tactic.. Spurrier used it to great effect, but that was a Holtz trick.

I was going to say similar, that Holtz was famous for always talking up the competition. Difference, i suppose, is that often Holtz would lose the ensuing game.

A previous master of the "set-up" was long time UGa coach Vince Dooley, as was the legendary Bear Bryant.
I was about to type that. The champion. He told his boys (when they played us) not to let those surfer beach boys from FLa beat you. I heard they ate steak if they did and beans if the did not..

You a Dooley lover?

Spurrier is not even close.

Great retort btw.
To be fair SOS WAS the master of psychology and Macs comments are such but SOS usually said "we should probably beat their azzz when he believed it (which was most of the time)'
of course i was paraphrasing,

I do not disagree at all that Spurrier was a master of psychology.

We are (at least I am) talking about poor mouthing. Dooley took the cake there.
