I don’t know, it’s nice to have some fresh legs from a solid RB late in the game.Dameon leads all FBS rushers with 212 4th Qtr yards and 4th qtr YPC with 10.6.

I’d love to see what he could do in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd qtrs.

I had to admire Mullen putting Pierce out there in a one-score game in the 4th quarter...and Pierce delivering.
It's the type of thing that means we're going to see a bit more of him in the near future I would think. But failing in that, turning to him in the 2nd half when needing to pound out tough yards is an important job.
Technically, UT is a SEC opponent.Again I get it about 4th qtr defense. But I also ask again is it worth it to keep your best runner (my opinion) on the pine until the defense is tired in the 4th qtr? Has anyone ever really taken this approach? I think this is infinitely more conservative by DM than running down the clock at halftime.
We’ve scored 16 and 13 in 2 of our SEC games. I think it’s worth taking a look. Pierce has only carried the ball in 4 games and despite limited carries he is our leading rusher and averages 64 yds per game. I have to believe he can average 100 or more given some 1st half carries.
Every time he goes in, I get excited. But last game he made two mistakes which could have been important: (1) he knocked that ball out of Franks hand, and (2) he ran out of bounds. Has anyone seen him throw a block? If he doesn't block, wouldn't that severely de-limit our playbook?

My mistake. I mis-read your post. I apologize.I know... I pointed out the 2 SEC games where we had trouble scoring.
Timing....as we’re talking I’m watching the 4th qtr where he rips some runs.

Pierce's speed from where he is when the ball is handed off to him to when he hits the hole is unbelievable. Agree we need to give him more touches.Dameon Pierce needs to see the field a ton more.
Franks is complete crap. 8/15 for 119 against a weak defense like CSU's is UNACCEPTABLE. TERRIBLE.
We have got to run, run, run. Franks is never going to run with purpose. Pierce runs with purpose every time he steps on the field whether it's for offense or special teams. RELENTLESS EFFORT, right Dan???
He's a breakaway threat who could put up video game type numbers and would make even our crap O line look decent.
Perine and Scarlett are looking good, don't get me wrong, but Pierce is a beast. Force of nature.
Remember, this is the kid who broke Hershel Walker's high school rushing record.
MAN CHILD 2.0 HAS COME!!!
RELEASE THE BEAST ON TOOTHLESS!!!
Agree Ox, you could tell there was definitely something "different" when he was running the ball. I commented in the David Wunderlich O-line thread that I would like to see us utilize the TE more in blocking for the running game, which we did against MSU and it showed. I tell ya, if we continue to improve with the run blocking this week in practice and Pierce gets more touches this week against LSU, I feel a lot more confident in our chances to win Saturday. When you say "relentless effort" I certainly think of Pierce. The guy runs so hard every time he touches the ball it looks like his heart might explode. I can remember getting a tremendous sense of comfort when they were using him in move-the-chains-clock-killing-mode against MSU. He's certainly fantastic in that role; it's hard to believe he couldn't get 10 yards on 3 carries against anyone when you needed it. Basically the opposite of Scarlett, who goes down if you sneeze on him.
