Been putting a lot of hours into this sucker, which I got for $70 off of Craigslist. It's a early-60's Dole Director soda machine, and it weighs over 200 pounds. I've torn all the aesthetic stuff off the outside and am just working on finding out if all the internals are working, cleaning, changing o-rings, stuff like that. It's filthy and was heavily used somewhere.
I'm proud to announce the the 60-year old sealed refrigeration system still works perfectly. I've just ordered a C02 bottle and I'm going to hook the sucker up and see if the carbonator still works. Then I'll start on the outside of the unit, bringing the sides back to life and brightening the yellowed top plastic cover. It has interchangeable advertising displays on both sides that light up. It's going to be incredible when it's done.
It will be a man-cave item that I plan to use for years (whenever I actually get a man cave). I'm thinking of having the Gatorchatter script as the display on the front of the machine above the spigots.
