It's not quitting when he wants to be paid off.
Hard to believe an unsubstantiated rumor can get so much play time. 1st - If he wanted to quit, he didn't have to wait for his employer to accept his resignation..... 2nd - No University would accept the potential fall out from trying to hide Credit Card Fraud. (Except FSU) Just doesn't add up...
That resignation door is hard to kick down too.
Guarantee that Mac signed an NDA and at $7.5 mill...he was paid off for something.
Meyer and Chump had similar demeanors towards the end.
I was hoping he was some kind of Offensive Rainman. Everyone knows he's totally weird and socially awkward, but no one cares because he gets the victories, scores the touchdowns. Where is the Special Retard Magic we were promised? It showed up twice at the end of the Tenn. Games in '15, '17. It doesn't surprise me that he would want to quit. He probably expected to be treated like Saban instead of Gomer Pile. Truth is he would of pulled it off had he been able to recruit, coach, or speak worth a damn.
Can we all admit now that the shark pic was probably real?
I knew we were fooked as soon as I saw where he said he gets ideas for offensive plays by looking at the stars. Its no wonder half our pass plays had 3 or 4 receivers all within arms length of each other down the field.
Yup, if Mac said he wanted to quit within a week of being fired, Strick would have accepted on the spot. No buyout and he's gone; win-win for Strick Mac's dumb ass probably went to Stricklin and said I'll leave if you pay me what I'm owed, which Strick rightfully rejected. Then, out of the blue, Mac lied about death threats. The door was open to negotiate a lower buy out... Which Strick failed to capitalize on.
Details be what they may I'm pretty sure most of last season, if not all of it, was spent mutually by Butters and UF trying to think of and negotiate an exit plan for him. Despite not being qualified to run UF's football program, Butters was smart enough to know last years, and most likely this years teams will not be up to snuff for the fan base.....who never liked him in the first place. He would have been fired at the end of 2018 anyway. The credit card thing was not going to go away quickly and whatever part he did or did not have in it still would have been another reason to get canned without a buyout.....Funny part about all of this is that during his 3 year stay this might have been the only time he actually had a game plan....
Not even Foley would have been stupid enough to decline his "resignation" attempt if he would walk with no money. Mac was likely dumb enough to believe that they'd pay the full buyout if he did quit, to keep things quiet. Hindsight (Trux style) Mrs Mac spent a lot of time out of town this season, knew what was coming. Stricklin knew Mac was trying to cover up the CC fraud and could get rid of him for less than full buyout: no need to let him walk with all that $ Why allow him to launch the bbq sauce? That tweet of him at the house with the Nebraska gear was such a huge slap to the face, and a resume attempt at the same time, that it's so unbelievable how arrogant he was with misplaced confidence. I will say this though, and I'm not sticking up for him, but to be in the profession so long he has to have some coaching ability. I know great workers who get into situations they dislike, or hate, and under perform so bad they look incompetent. It usually hurts them in the job market for a period of time, but like evetything else, it will pass. He, along with Nuss & Nord, will once again wonder sidelines somewhere, I have no doubt. They'll probably even be an ESPN special on gameday one Saturday morning a few years down the road.
He had to have SOME, I agree. However, he may have been one of those people that when they finally cash in with a huge contract, lose any motivation to kick ass at their job. I think he got paid and got lazy.
Who knows what really happened in this case. One thing is for certain....MacNussNord is gone....PRETTY KEWL.
I agree that he had some coaching abilities. There is evidence for that in his past accomplishments. That said, I believe he is a living example of 'The Peter Principle'. UF was his level of incompetence.
From hiring to firing, the entire Chapter of McElwain in the History of Gator Football is beyond bizarre. And the cc thing with the possibility that a coverup was involved makes me wonder if the claim of "death threats" was more than just delusion. We may never know. So long Mac. We hardly got to know you but what we did know was not very pleasant.
Especially with Rivals verifying that was a 2-3* shark.
Really? Was it the 9-6 loss to GrassEaster that sold you on this useless slob? Even Trailerbammer's level of talent couldn't overcome's that fool's inability.
It’s ok, Mac’s a great evaluator of shark talent.
For sure, since he ranks them on a scale of 1 to fin.
Would fit his MO perfect, trying to play the sympathy card again. In his arrogant mind he equated back to back East titles his first two years (which he repeated to himself had never been done) with Meyer's NC's. And a combination of not getting everything he wanted from the UAA plus the CC scandal, he figured he would try to bluff them with a resignation attempt. Thinking Stricklin would freakout and beg him to stay. Looks like he was laughed at and told to go play in traffic, or jump off a bridge, that's where the death threats came from.
