Butters missed on Eli Stove and....you can't really blame the kid. The Auburn offense is a lot more fun than any Butters/Nussmeir/Nord led offense by a mile.

Report: Key Auburn WR Eli Stove tears ACL in final practice before spring break

As the Auburn Tigers evolve offensively under QB Jarrett Stidham, they’ll now have to do so without one of their most versatile weapons.

That’s because WR Eli Stove tore his ACL this spring, according to a report from 247Sports. Stove had 29 catches for 265 yards and added 315 rushing yards and two scores as a sophomore in 2017.

Brandon Marcello of Auburn Undercover had the news on Tuesday afternoon:

This is great....Alabama went full court press on getting a grad transfer QB, looked like they locked down the kid from ECU...not so fast!

2nd Auburn WR tears ACL in spring:

Report: Auburn receiver Will Hastings suffers torn ACL, undergoes surgery

https://www.saturdaydownsouth.com/auburn-football/hastings-torn-acl-2018/

The spring hits keep coming for Auburn.

A few days after it was reported that receiver Will Hastings suffered a knee injury, 247sports’ Brandon Marcello reported that Hastings did indeed tear his ACL and undergo surgery.

AL.com had already reported that Hastings, who suffered the knee injuryin practice last week, might miss the entire 2018 season. Now, that looks like a certainty.

Marcello reported that the injury happened during Auburn’s spring scrimmage last Saturday. Hastings was the second Auburn receiver to suffer a torn ACL. Eli Stove kicked off spring practice with the same injury.

That’s a tough loss for a once-promising group of wideouts. The former kicker emerged as one of Jarrett Stidham’s key targets in 2017 with 26 catches for 525 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Without Hastings and Stove, Auburn’s depth will certainly take a hit. The Tigers still have Ryan Davis, Darius Slayton and Nate Craig-Myers, but the margin for error got that much smaller.

Auburn’s spring game is set for Saturday, April 7.
