We really got hammered today 15-7. 2 HR's by USCe in the 1st inning had us battling all day. We actually had the tying run at the plate and no outs, down 3 runs, in the top of the 8th and India struck out for the first out and we could not close the gap. Pitching was pretty bad today and we did not get enough timely hits. Battled all day but not meant to be. Big game on Sunday. Want to win the opening weekend series in the SEC!

Thanks FF. Well, we've got a number of HR hitters in Dalton, India, etc.

Gators win!!!

Caught the last few innings. I like what I saw and heard about the freshman pitcher who covered the middle. Get the win while building depth. Go Gators!!!

Gators win 3-2 and take the series 2-1 although this was a nail biter and we played with fire almost all day. We managed to scrape out 4 hits (well 3 really, 1 was really an error) against Johnny Whole Staff. I am concerned that we might be in the bottom half of the league again in hitting as we seem to take a lot of good pitches. With that said it is always good to win a series in the SEC on the road, and even though USCe is lower half in the SEC, they are much improved and they can hit. I have a feeling there is going to be a lot of very good baseball teams in the SEC this year with a conference record of between 14-16 and 16-14. From the looks of the scores this weekend it appears there is going to be a lot more offense this season so even tho we have 3 excellent starters, we might not see a lot of 2-1 or 3-2 games. Dyson threw 115 pitches in 5 innings and USCe had multiple base runners each inning when he was in there. Butler came in and pitched 1 2/3 and got out of a huge jam. he appears to be the #1 lefty out of the pen in crucial situations. Byrne then came in and closed with 2 1/3 inning save.

Next weekend we host ARKY who absolutely demolished and excellent KY team this weekend in a 3 game sweep by scoring 40+ runs in those games. They can mash and also have improved pitching. It is the type of series between what will probably be two top 5 teams and the place should be SRO, but probably won;t be close. I will start and new thread for each SEC series weekly for those 3 of us who care and maybe even DZ, our resident baseball expert, will pop in.

Gators keeping in the groove as a HR hitting team = 4 hits with 2 HRs : India & Dalton. 4 or 5 high RBI producers.
Keep going Gators. Looks like SEC teams are gonna rule the NCAA landscape.

Arkansas in town this coming weekend. They hammered #4 Kentucky with 39 runs in 3 games and had beaten up on Texas both games of a home & home series last midweek. Hope our pitchers can cool them down.

Nice weekend. Anytime you win 2 out of 3 in this conference, especially away, is a success. I think if we can get some hot bats in the first few innings of this coming weekend we will be fine.

Huge series sweep against Vanderbilt. That team always tries their best to take it to us. Florida baseball currently:

-Ranked # 1 overall
-Ranked 3rd in RPI
-In 1st place in the SEC
-Won 6 out of 7 against top 10 teams in a 10 day span
-Accounted for 28% of FSU's losses this year

good guys win again! 8-4!
Nick Horvath was the star of the game. Came in to replace Maldanado, who got hurt sliding into home. Robbed FGCU of a 2-run HR with a leaping catch over the left center field fence, then hit a 3-run HR himself. JJ had a couple of RBI's and Byrne got the last 5 outs to beat a very good FGCU team who was 22-5 entering the game.

It is great to get these young guys some game experience in these midweek games.

I like Baker. Looked pretty sharp. McMullen looked bad in his .1 of an inning. Nice to have someone like Byrne to come in and clean up.

These Gator bats are hot this year, hope that continues.
