Every Aggie I have talked to... and I know a lot of them here in Austin... seem really happy about it.

They should be, he has been a heck of a play caller and developed a couple of good offenses based on solid fundamentals. Good RB, good throwing QB and really good receivers. No gimmicks, no tricks, just good, sound offense. My only question is can Jimbo (or anyone else) recruit the kind of athletes from Texas that it takes to build a championship DEFENSE that can contend with Bama, LSU and other national powers. I do not understand Texas high school football, but I cannot recall the last Texas based university that had a defense that was worth a damn.

Texas' defense was really good this year.

He is regularly a four loss coach with top 5 talent. How is he going to compete with Alabama or even Auburn and LSU. If you take away his two years with Jameis, he is Zook.

Texas high school football produces gobs of great defensive players. They are mostly playing for schools outside of Texas due to the turmoil at both of the big schools in state.

Jimbo is a good coach not a great one. Without Winston even before this season he averaged about 3 losses.

He's gonna have to get him a QB and find a rival WR to FHRITP. They'll turn on him quickly, book it.

I've got a really good buddy here who's an Aggie alumnus and a booster. He's beyond happy about this hire. I just lol at him.

Word is that Jimbo will stay at aTm for several years and then move on to Alabama once
Saban decides to call it a career.

So they fired an offensive "mastermind" coach who recruited well but produced teams that underperformed their talent to hire... Jimbo Fisher, but for way more money?! Uh, okay. :D
