Bought the Fish from the Joe Robbie family, desperate for cash to pay the estate taxes on the late tax attorney's estate, for a song and a prayer -- a 15% share in '90 and the balance in '93.

I talked with his wife Marti several times...the Huizenga's had a home in the Johnson City, TN area when I lived there. You could always tell when he was in town because his private 737 had a huge Dolphin's logo on the tail (even after he sold the team) would be at the small regional airport there in Blountville. Marti was a great lady...just a cool normal person.

I know Wayne made a lot of money, but he was not always popular in south Florida. I am not sure if he still owned Blockbuster when it went belly up (or if he had sold it), but I went into a Blockbuster once in my life and immediately predicted it would go out of business. Why? B/C Blockbuster did not have a Porn Section!!!!!!!

I see. Blockbuster failed not because you can now stream movies into your home for a fraction of the cost, but because they failed to offer pay-for-porn when you can get that free off the net.

Blockbuster was in the process of going out of business long before the internet was up and going strong and before porn was rampant on the web. I went into my one and only Blockbuster in I believe 1990 and made that prediction. The indie video stores all had the backroom full of customers. Blockbuster failed to realize porn was where the money was back in the day!:jog:

Blockbuster was going strong well into the 2000s.

Blockbuster lost 70+% of its value btw 03-05, so yes you are correct they were open, but I would not call that going strong. I was early in my prediction, that is for sure.

Getting cranky in your old age, I get it.
My fiance reminds me of that every day. It sucks getting old. I wanna turn 65, get cheap Medicare insurance and freeze my cells.
