It became apparent that the Proper Gators Standard encompassed by Tebow’s statement of “you will never see a team play harder than we will the rest of the season” had been replaced by the philosophy of “mediocrity for the sake of efficiency”.

Zook was fired after 2.5 years after a loss at MSU (which was controversial and considered premature at that time) . Now, we have become MSU, and are paying $7.5MM for a coach who works 1/3rd as hard as the Zooker, with a worse record to boot.

Mullen gets a raise for not sucking as bad as Mac, and Mike White is also getting a raise for barely making the tourney. We are rewarding mediocrity.

Don’t even get me started on the ineptitude regarding the delay/overages on the football facilities. Also, our mediocre AD remains, despite decreasing revenue and one heck of a scandal regarding the woman’s basketball team.

Welcome to the new Gators Standard: It’s OK (at best) and it’s here to stay.
