This "hosing' ridicule of either of the only "next man up" QBs we have seems an arm of the "doomer" folk maintaining the hopelessness of Mac &/or Nuss. By now, it all comes off as "anti-next season". I'd rather be pumped up for my Gators' upcoming season.

And with 14 games a season now its not like its much of a feat. We used to scoff at QBs who could throw for 300 yards a game. Now its our new gold standard apparently.

I agree that 3,000 yard seasons are not as impressive as they were back when teams played fewer games. However, 300 yards per game is still an impressive stat. Last season there were only 9 FBS QBs that averaged 300 yards per game.

1 Patrick Mahomes Texas Tech Jr. 421 ypg
2 Ryan Higgins Louisiana Tech Sr. 355 ypg
3 Deshaun Watson Clemson Jr. 306.2 ypg
4 Luke Falk Washington St. Jr. 343 ypg
5 Mike White Western Ky. Jr. 311 ypg
6 Davis Webb California Sr. 358 ypg
7 Logan Woodside Toledo Jr. 318 ypg
8 Mason Rudolph Oklahoma St Jr. 315 ypg
9 Baker Mayfield Oklahoma Jr. 305 ypg

This year Trask will be on that list. But don't tell Swonkey, he'll have a heart-attack.

In 2016 there were 37 FBS QBs that threw for more than 3,000 yards. Definitely not the gold standard it once was.

The last guy we had that hit 3200 yards was 10 years ago. How someone as inaccurate as he was could manage to do that throwing slipscreens and to the receivers wrong shoulder is beyond me.

We were more of a roller coaster last year when it came to passing stats... top 3 games passing yardage wise: Kentucky (320), Tennessee (296), and Alamabama (261). We passed for under 200 against Vanderbilt (144), Georgia (131), LSU (144), and FSU (149). We went up and down a couple of times if you look at the game by game break down.

Surprising its not a little higher with these scores you see now. I thought half of the big 12 would be on there but I remember that guy on WVU did take off running quite a bit when I watched him.
