Lowell George. By the time I discovered Little Feat, he was already gone. And he died just a few miles away from where I lived. “Waiting for Columbus” is still one of my favorite live albums. Both of my kids, born 20+ years later, are fans.

Music....Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, Jim Morrison, Otis Redding
Otis Redding was my first thought. Nice call.

Recorded Sittin on the Dock of the Bay just a few days before his death. I thank God he at least got that last one in, but can you imagine what we missed out on? Damn. Just, damn.

Kurt Cobain, Hendrix and Chris Cornell if including those that had a hand in their early demise.

Actors I would say Robin Williams. For all of his comedy was an amazing dramatic actor.

Sports maybe Derrick Thomas and Pistol Pete even though they were late career

I seem to be stuck on athletes dying young. Brandon Burlsworth Arkansas Razorbacks. You know his story about the walk-on who made All-American. Did you see the movie "Greater"? Pretty powerful scenes.
I liked it. It got the usual panning from secular critics, but I thought the Nick Searcy character was a great plot device for bringing Marty's grief, anger, and doubt out into the open. The movie was really more about struggling with those things when you're the one left behind.

There's a lot of Randy's vision in this song. Quite a few yout ube videos came out--lots of bootleg, grainy stuff. The sound quality wasn't great, but what he was playing just before he died was insane. One could only imagine what he would have accomplished. He was just a few months into 25 years old.

I saw Ozzy in Jax when I was much younger and got to meet Randy before the concert. He gave me a signed pick from his pocket and was pretty laid back/cool to talk to.
