I believe he truly understands the expectations but am not sure he is the guy to get us there. That being said, Go Gators! Lets go get a top 5 class...

Look, Mullen is as good as anyone else and better than most that were left after we were spurned by the two best candidates. I never thought we had a chance with Frost and stated as much a couple times. I think he may have taken a little umbrage at all the presumptuous Florida talk. I get the feeling he's not a big fan of UF. And it appears Kelly never really was that interested at all either. So what great 3rd choice did Mullen beat out for the job? They were all either questionable candidates or retreads. At least Mullen knows Florida and the expectations so we're not going to have to deal with any culture shock from a new coach.

I'm going to take the same attitude as many and the same attitude I took for every new coach and allow them to form my opinion of them. That usually takes a season or so. So for now all I'm going to do is wish Mullen nothing but the best and hope he turns out to be the smartest and best hire Florida ever made.

I actually like DM, but "Shyttersfull" is a hilarious nickname. That Christmas sweater was strong, too.

I've heard a lot of talk about all the different coaches we should have pursued, but that's a doubled edged sword. Sure, you don't know if you don't ask but you also have to be realistic about your ability to actually get a coach before you ask him. If they have a huge buyout, if they are making similar money and have a good situation where they are, if they have long ties to their current position, if they appear to be the type of guy who will mesh with UF's culture, etc. etc. etc.. You can't just go out there and start asking every good coach in America if they want to coach the Gators. You only have a few chances to go gauge a coach's interest by directly asking them if they'd like the Florida job because it begins to make you look weak and desperate if you keep getting turned down and it further diminishes the attractiveness of the job.

Great post as usual. Living a life of positivity and optimism is the way to go. It’s carried me this far and I’ve seen many challenges, obstacles along this journey. Can’t imagine the alternative.

I think AD's get gunshy after being left at the alter once or twice. I am sure Foley was after going on the worldwind tour and then slam dunked by Stoops and Shanahan. Now SS got dumped by the top two picks. I am not sure how many swing and misses one should go through before landing on a "safe" pick.

Just think that if DM is able to win us a NC while he is here, he will have his name on 75% of the titles that we have.

Meyer probably would've never won without Mullen. I'm surprised that Meyer won before and after Mullen. Not sure how Spurrier won a title without Mullen either. Crazy stuff.

Well, SOS did need Stoops to win one.

Perhaps paying Mullen some $6 million per year will cause his performance to rise to that level. One can hope, right??

Foley knew before he left what those two were going to say. That was all a show to get us to accept Zook, his ole buddy, the guy he wanted all along.

There was some of that involved with this search too though I believe the pursuit of Frost then Chip was in earnest. The other banes were not. Stricklin wanted Cousin Eddie fromnthe beginning.
